I don't have any personal experience with doing a proper run with the new HT, however we have already gathered quite a bit of feedback, and are looking into solutions to some of the issues you have mentioned.
The current HT mainly cause problems for melee classes like Hero, Drks, Buccs. I have participated in HT several times these days. My party members are 2NL, Sair, Hero(attacker and sed target), BM, and Bishop. The way NLs, Sair and BM kill HT is Legs >Tail> Head A (switch to Wings when Head A cancel wa)> Head C> Head B> Right Arm> Left Arm. [Which there is not much problem doing so] The problem is, for the Hero, during HT body, 80% of the time he is being seduced. When body has spawned, Hero will hang at rope until Legs and Tails are killed. Then Hero will hit Head A and B, when Head A and Head B cancel wa, he can [either stand a little bit backwards at middle platform just to hit the wings, not the left arm] or stay hitting Head A and B. When Head A and wings are down, Hero will be attacking both right arm and Head C, but only for awhile. After like 5 minutes, the hero will leave right arm and attack Head C only. Then when Head C is down, all the party members will go to the left side to kill Head B. After Head B is down, then Right Arm> Left Arm. Summary, problem number: 1. Hero will be seduced 80% of the time, which strongly affects his damage contribution. 2. Hero cant maximize their 3-target Aoe because he cant deal too much damage to Right and Left arm, which also strongly affect his damage contribution. The solution for more resourceful parties is, don't take Melee classes as attacker, just get ranged attackers and have one person having a sed mule(duo client). This will definitely impact the Melee class lovers significantly as they will have hard time finding a HT squad to participate as attackers even if they are really strong (only good friends will allow them to). I would say this is a very strong nerf to Melee classes and its not healthy.
Another issue is that minimum required HP is now ~9800 since Wings can give Legs/Tails a buff and their magic hits up to ~9800 (though I'm not 100% on this; someone correct me if I'm wrong). This kind of screws over the people that washed specifically to 9100 like in Old Source and makes HP washing even more essential in an environment where the whole washing mechanic is not very friendly to new players.
I have yet to run the new ht, but i did run ht a lot back in the day on gms. i dont recall on gms there ever being runs with less than two full parties. Not because of dps reasons per say but due to the bossese mechanics. Is it possible that some of these issues are being brought on by there not enough people/parties to juggle the bosses mechanics properly? Or you guys arent following the proper order of killing focus? Im just posing a question, not making any accusations here! I want ht to be enjoyable for everyone
I believe some parties just prefer doing the run with as few people as possible so that they can reap as much profit from the drops as possible. I'm not sure what is different compared to GMS apart from players being stronger here compared to the ~2 parties you may have seen in GMS.
Personally, the only thing I absolutely detest about the new HT is seduce and weapon cancel. 1st prehead seduce being completely is tolerable. However, the seduce target in main body shouldn't have to deal with 3 consecutive seduces. Two arms, two seduces max imo. Weapon cancel is awful at 1 minute each. It's frustrating to deal with 1 minute weapon cancels that can occur maybe once every 2-3 minutes AND having the "backup" head also weapon cancel at the same time (attacking head A and it cancels and then head B cancels).
Better idea, allow Paladins to remove weapon cancel with magic crash. Pallies instantly most popular warrior class!
DIVERSITY?! THIS SERVER HAS NO PLACE FOR INHUMANE THINGS!! Joking aside, I know everyone wants the most amount of EXP as possible most of the time but I wish magicians were more used/useful when weapon cancel is up. Maybe bring a FP or IL as well to 1 hit mobs and do some damage to HT when the other 4 NLs cant?
imo, there should be a class balancing topic discussed among the staff to make little changes on the classes that needs them the most.
I'm aware that players are much stronger here than they were on GMS, I was less speaking of the DPS, and more of the pure numbers required to accurately handle HT's mechanics. I feel like some of the problems some parties are having are due to not having enough people inside the cave, or killing HT's limbs properly to successfully handle the mechanics properly. HT was intended to have a minimum amount of people inside of varying classes to disperse all of its mechanics upon. And here since we are only sending in a single party of 4-5 range I believe that might be where some of these issues are arising from. On GMS, the kill order of the body parts was extremely important. Its been 10 years so I do not remember the entirety of Horntails mechanics when we fought on GMS, so I wouldnt be able to give the right order. But i do remember that killing one part before killing another would lead to increase in Seducing, Weapon Cancel, more damage taken etc. Again its possible after 10 years ive mistaken things and Im not remembering things correctly. Thats absolutely possible.
Killing order is still pretty important, its being killed the same way as gms did back then except theres less people on each run. Just go find some old gms guides on horntail it states the same order and mechanics. Before new source we also had a kill order, back then it was also very important but the thing that made warriors shine on old source was ~bosshp it allowed for a safe run while still using your warrior to the max and mostly hitting 3-2 targets. No bosshp command among other things mentioned in this thread makes the run slower, people tend to opt out of bringing warriors and just bringing 1target dps classes now since it will make the run faster. 2 party runs is most likely not going to be a thing among the people who do many runs every week, its hard enough to get 6 of your friends and possibly a pendant buyer to be available at the same time.
Not sure about leg buff but I saw that the wings can now buff the head to do about 6900 damage (instead of like 5500). Also ht is very hard for bishops now cause you have no idea when head b can suddenly dispel you, and later everyone can die from sed after the bish is dead
Hp washing helped ranged classes biggest weakness so there's that. I think more maps and bosses should be released that help the disadvantage between classes. Maybe a boss so bloated or summon happy (more than Zakum) that ranged classes just punch/whack half the time. NL's can do a lot with 15k hp washed and there's little they can't do.
i like that it gives weapon def. we cant abuse the glitch(jumping in certain spots to cancel weapon def) . and melee becoming sed every few min seems rough but its gives a more nolgastic feeling when you have to bring another warrior in order to kill HT. honestly even duo client a sedmule is fine bc trying to keep it alive gives that challenging feeling where it can die at any moment. I love that feeling . It is not "Hard" for bishop. They have two and a half jobs in HT 1.SPAM<MG no matter what .DO NOT STOP during body.And when darks are spawned. 2.Heal Sed player 2.5 . HS in between.
Pls make heroes great again. I haven’t gone through the struggle to make it 157 with a perfect ST just to use it as sed mule and baby siting it with my bishop. Bring bosshp back. At least is a must for HT
