it would take a lot of development time to make another custom high res client. I don't think that's on their to-do list for the foreseeable future.
I'm personally not a fan as I normally have royals running with other tabs, be it a 2nd, 3rd and so forth client or YouTube/whatnot open on the side. Maple simply isn't engaging enough to warrant an entire screens usage.
Keep in mind that developing such client is not intended to be the only option avaliable, is more likely for those who wants to have a full screen experience for a while. I don't see how is this a con
I understand where you're coming from. But it's just that for me I see no scenario of me utilizing a fullscreen experience. But of course this is just my opinion, maybe other players might appreciate it. Let's see what others have to say.
I know there is tons of private server with higher resolution out there but how many of them bothered to actually fix the map like, scaling the background just to fit into the map so nothing cuts off abruptly, for example, or maybe fixing the UI so that it actually fits and not look awkward? And then there's this multiclienting culture on Royals where I think people would prefer smaller resolution over big ones, and then having to put more resources into developing this when we can focus on more pressing issue of the game, I don't know...
Above posters all speak some truth. Correcting the visual issues for such a large client resolution would be a difficult task, if it is even feasible. We want to ensure that all of the maps in game (effectively) look and feel authentic, as if they were designed for that resolution. This is time intensive manual labour, and becomes increasingly difficult the larger the client is. That's a long way to say, not something we are looking into or prioritising right now.
