A Bishop's Guide to Getting Genesis by Daenerys

Looking at the slew of Clerics/Priests in the server, it makes sense to reason that some of you will eventually hit Bishop one day.
And the skill you would want to max out first is the mighty Genesis:
However, many of us can't remember how to do the Genesis quest (self included). After spending an entire day figuring it out and getting the necessary items and party members- I'd thought I'd spare you guys the trouble and make a guide. (I don't have the screenshots for all, but I'll do the best I can- I'll update when I get screenies)


1. How to activate the quest after becoming a Bishop

I didn't take any screenshots when I did the quest- but I believe it involves this:



Basically, it's a series of quests involving a back and forth between Shammos, and Grendel. Do not mix this up with Ready for Revival. At some point, Shammos will ask you for Life Roots, which is when the trouble really begins.

Liferoots are found only through HTPQ (Horntail Party Quest) and to get there, you need to do the HTPQ prequest.



2.How to do the prequest for Horntail Party Quest (or HTPQ for short)

The level prerequisite is lvl 80, and anyone can do it.
To begin, talk to Chief Tatamo in Leafre -the NPC with the long, climmable beard (sort of like Dan's ultimate form) whom you buy Magic Seeds from. He will give you a quest to talk to Moira, which I think is War of the Dragons.



I can't remember if you need to talk to Chief Tatamo again after talking to Moira once, but she will give you this quest:



(I've bolded the Map name, who Moira is, and the quest name: which is Making the Secret Medicine for Transformation)

The next bit is HIGHLY important because many of us screwed this bit up

You will require:
10 Tough Dragon Skin
1 Skull Shoulder Pad
1 Corinian's Marrow (the ice cube thing)
1 Manon's Cry
1 Corinian's Dagger

As Seen.


There is a catch. What I'm doing now is the repeatable quest, which requires the same items as the first quest. By "first quest" I mean anyone's first attempt at doing Making the Secret Medicine for Transformation. Although the items are identicial, on the database the items have a different item ID.

So, if you get someone who did this quest before and turned it in to kill Manon/farm any of items for you, you can loot the item: say, Manon's Cry- but it will not register in your quest log (and you can't complete the quest!)


Solution: You can either solo Manon (takes around 40-50mins for a lvl 120 Bishop without Gene to solo) and farm the other items by yourself- or find someone who is at least lvl 80 and hasn't done the quest before with the quest ACTIVATED to farm the items for you.

(sounds kinda confusing huh D



3.How to get the items for the HTPQ Prequest

Corinian's Dagger



Kill a Dark/Green Corinian as I have shown in the screenshot and get a Busted Dagger.

Then get 1 Mithril Plate, 1 Steel Plate, have 10,000 mesos ready, and talk to Mos in Leafre- The Weapon Upgrader, as I have shown below. Choose the Option Fix a Busted Dagger. You will receive a Corinian's Dagger.



The rest

Cornian's Marrow drops from Dark/Green Corinians.
Skull Shoulder Pad from Green Corinians
Tough Dragon Skin from Black/Blue/Red Wyverns.
Manon's Cry from Manon.



4. Turning in the Quest

Talk to Moira once you're done collecting all the items- and POOF. You will turn into a Green Corinian- badass blades and all.

Click on the NPC below Moira (the Dark Corinian) to enter HTPQ

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN IN THE QUEST ONCE YOU'RE DONE UNLESS YOU HAVE AT LEAST TWO OTHER PARTY MEMBERS WHO FINISHED THE QUEST AND ARE AT LEAST LVL 120 WITH YOU. Otherwise, you will need to redo the quest

Once you get them, turn them in to Shammos and TADA. You're the proud owner of the Skill Genesis

I'm pretty sure in GMS there is no issue with people who have already done the quest killing manon for you, they don't even need it activated as long as you're in the map & party ready to loot with your quest active. Maybe that could be looked at too.

Is there no other way to obtain tough dragon skins other than killing the dark wyverns? They really pack a punch and each takes forever to kill as a Bishop.

I got all 10 easy today. Took me less then 20minutes. Have a pet with auto mp and magic guard and I do like 3 shining ray and then a heal. rinse and repeat. The map right before skeles and stuff has like 5 on bottom level just lure em all and boom 1-3 each round

 

you call this a "guide" but provide only 7 pictures and ONLY ONE OF THOSE IS FOR THE QUEST WE'RE ACTUALLY GOOGLING.
AND that one picture is of the completed quests. the reason we clicked on this was for screenshots of the 7 part quest for Shammos's past.
this guide is useless! it confused me more looking at your guide than getting advice from random people in game.

to surmise, if you are going to make a guide for something, do better. and maybe get screenshots along the way not after and say "oh well this'll have to do"
