This story begins with a crime, like existence itself, like when that being of light recklessly rebelled against the Almighty.

Just like every day, I dedicated my services as a private investigator, searching in dark places where the law cannot tread. I was notified that my services were needed in Kerning City, so without much thought, I headed there. An old Dark Stump had been the victim of a robbery, a common occurrence in his area, and I needed to find the culprit to recover his axe.

With a vague description of the criminal, I decided to investigate Kerning, since, although it was a nest of fools for some Mesos they would sing like caged birds.

The clues led me to the Kerning City underground, a claustrophobic and smelly place where those without direction or a home to rest took refuge, this was their home. Unfortunately for me, the culprit wasn't there, but I found his belongings, or rather, those that used to belong to others.

Among these cursed objects, I found scrolls to go to NLC and also a lollipop. Armed with the necessary information to know where to go, I set out for NLC, more specifically to Crimsonwood Forest.

And after gathering more information, I went right into it. A gang of leprechauns who worshipped gold, and even more so, money, operated there. I boldly tried to get answers from one of them, and although it worked at first, he later refused to talk much. Although my strength could overcome him, he asked for help, so I had to flee for my life.

Knowing more, I returned to my client to tell him what I had found, but upon arriving, I stumbled upon an unpleasant incident. My client had been killed; nothing remained but his belongings. Who could have done this? Was it the same criminal who took his precious axe?

Luckily, although circumstances were sad, the criminal had left a star at the scene, which he allegedly used against the poor old Dark Stump. I already knew where these stars came from, so without much thought, I headed to Don Hwang's weapons shop. I'd known him for years, so approaching him wasn't a problem. However, I had to bribe him to find out who had recently bought these stars. Unfortunately, that's how things work sometimes; greed is as present as the sun and the moon in human's heart.

Having an idea of who it was, I went out to look for him, and, oh, coincidence, I found him right when I left the armory. Everything matched Don Hwang's description: gaunt, dark clothes, a blank stare, a pale face, and he was carrying the axe that belonged to the old Dark Stump. I quickly followed him until I confronted him on the outskirts of Kerning.

At first, he didn't worried much about me, but when I showed him the evidence, he felt cornered, and we had no choice but to finish what he started.

It wasn't easy at all, given his savage fighting style, but he eventually fell from a height in the heat of battle, and so his life ended. A short and miserable one, but such is the life of a criminal: one light goes out, but many shine just as darkly.

I wanted to give Old Dark Stump rest to his soul, so I helped him reunite with his family.

Stress is something I usually bear without much thought, but it's still a problem for sleeping. Only liquor can help me now in this obnoxious world I live in.
