At the very bottom you can find: "Re-enabled purchasing of RP due to some players requesting if they can help fund the server until we get the Cash Shop up and running. (RP is still applied to the account)" Whats up with that? Admins have always been adamant about the whole RP thing being a donation, that we didnt make purchases.. Is it ok because people are paying for the server itself (or so they say) and not the game? Either way I just thought I'd point this out before nexon brought forth the banhammah.
We changed the wording quite a while ago from it being donation to being a purchase of royal points, to fall in line with...tax rules or something I think? I honestly can't remember but it's technically a purchase. "Donations" "Donator" "donating" is just a misnomer nowadays, leftover from when it was actually donations.
This is to ensure we are trading legally and abiding with the rules set by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute in the UK. We must describe the payment as a purchase and not a donation as the recipient receives intangible virtual goods in exchange for money, whereas for it to be classed as a donation the recipient must not receive anything in return for their payment.
One could still argue though that since the RP points in no way give the player a benefit while playing, it would still be a "donation" I understand the whole "we get fake stuff for our money", but since I'm left no better off than I was before, but the server gets funded, I'll still consider it a donation. I've got your back guys.
Sadly the only way that we would be able to legally call it a "donation" would be by registering as a not-for-profit organisation, which although isn't too hard to do, it would mean that we would lose the limited liability that we currently have, which in turn means I would be putting my livelihood at a much greater risk.
