Hello everyone~ Reading the Report Abuse section is alway my thing before logging in. As for a loyal MR player,I've always rooted for this institution and the fair judgement that GMs provided. It's common knowledge to all MRers that KSers is not allowed... For the "Victim"to make an actual accusation case, you have to meet these three criterias(According to Tim's New report abuse format for KSing): You asking a person to leave as you would prefer that they didn't train there with you or loot your items, just saying: 'cc (plz)' is not accepted. You explaining to them that you are the mapowner, showing the ~mapowner by command and explaining killstealing is not allowed on MapleRoyals by the Terms & Conditions. Time stamps (using the ~servertime command) of at least two minutes apart OR a ~bosshp difference from each other where the person is still actively killstealing you despite your attempts to make them aware that killstealing you is unwanted. But these Criteria still doesn't explain the moral dilemma situation I'm about to show everyone: What if a person went AFK(for like 1hr+) in a popular map such as GS2's stair section(with someone owning the map) without withdrawing their pet? They will have absolutely no intention/action of Ksing (Since they AFK for like 1Hr+),but they can still be reported as stealing loots(since the pet is free to run around) even though it was completely unintentinal. SO...the question is:Should one be judged guilty because of this act?Or should any one have the right to AFK on any map they want? If judged guilty, what kinda evidence should one need to provide in order to make a case? (Since there's no actual Ksing action to capture, the "victim" should have trouble gathering evidence) If judged unguilty, can any GM explain why?
To my recollection, there aren't many popular maps where your pet can roam around to loot while you're AFK. The only maps I can think of are ghost ship maps, WS (at the very bottom), and Jr. Newties. For other maps, you are likely to be hanging on a rope. I'm going to confine my opinion below into just ghost ship maps. If one is simply AFK at a map (without accidentally looting, or causing disturbance to the map owner), I believe the GMs will exercise their discretion to not ban them. Even if they were banned as a result of the evidence acquired by the map owner (meeting the 3 criteria), they can still post into the forums for a ban appeal, explaining that they did not commit the act. If, however, the person is AFK with their pets out AND stealing loots, I believe they SHOULD be judged guilty. Otherwise, people could simply buy a map, stay AFK for hours, come back to feed their pets, and keep looting from others. Even if the person had no intention of doing such act, he was reckless in thinking that a map such as GS2 will not be taken by others, and eventually there will be monster drops. Also, taking into account of the fact that the consequence of their first offence is a 3 day ban, it serves as a warning for them not to do the same act again. I believe the evidence is simply the fact that the pet is running around during the two minute time stamp.
I don't believe the person would be banned for simply being afk. You wouldn't be able to gather any evidence to show that this person was purposely harassing you. When you come across someone afk on a map with their pet out and manage to gain mapowner then you choose to accept the fact that someone is afk there and you may stand to lose a little loot. Of course, you can always ~gm and I'm sure a member of staff will be obliging enough to move the afker to town.
