I've played on a variety of Maplestory private servers over the years, and while they're all, in my opinion, inferior to Royals in a lot of aspects, there was one thing that stuck out to me on some of them. Some of them had an "Account Bonus" system that rewarded players for completing quests, collecting monster cards, and completing achievements. The way this worked was by giving the player various stat bonuses through an unequipable item in their equipment slot. Every time a player completed a set amount of quests or collected a set amount of monster cards, they would receive a permanent +1 to All-stat, +1 Watk, and +40 HP/MP. Most, if not all, of the servers that have this system have it set up in such a way that a character can quickly become extremely overpowered, especially in combination with the extreme EXP rates that some of these servers sport. But I believe that MapleRoyals, with its lower rates, could benefit from a system like this if it were set up properly. The system could give players another reason besides "bragging rights" to collect monster cards and could act as an incentive to complete quests when leveling instead of just endlessly grinding maps. It could also help to combat the HP-washing requirements, and promote less We all know how much Royals players love min-maxing their characters, and this system could act as another layer on top of stats, gear, skills, and scrolling. An example of this system could be: Every 10 monster card sets completed (50 cards) | +1 All-stat, +1 Watk, +50 HP/MP. For every 150 quests completed | +1% All-stat, +1% Watk. The requirements and stat increases can we tweaked and changed to whatever people and staff feel is most appropriate.
imo the problem with slotless bonuses is they kinda become mandatory, which can make it intimidating for new players (especially when there's already a perception in the ps community that royals is full of "old money" and totally maxed accounts that make it inhospitable for newbies). This is how I feel when I look at GMS with all the skill shares and legions and stuff. I like that there are multiple end-game medals with different means of getting them, so you don't feel obligated to grind away at something if you don't want to. The Olaf questline has also created a pretty strong incentive to collect monster cards and complete quests already.
Closing this due to lack of community support for it. As mentioned by @pragmasaurus there are already incentives to hunt card or do quests for the Olaf questline or to obtain endgame medals.
