In the past few days, I took a break from Royals because of an ongoing internship. Despite not playing, in the past week I browsed YouTube and noticed almost all MapleRoyals videos were deleted. "Almost" because there are very few videos still up, but I can't think of the criteria for the cause of that. I have a hunch that these channels weren't active recently (ie: they uploaded a video 3 years ago and never again), but I can't be sure. Then it dawned on me: almost all Maplestory private servers videos were deleted. I even had an alternate channel on YouTube with a couple of videos from another private server I played in the past that got deleted, even if both of them didn't even got past 50 views the last time I checked. There are still some exceptions here and there (just like for MapleRoyals alone) but most of it is gone. That YouTube sometimes deleted videos of private servers was no news for me, but a mass delete of this magnitude has never happened. Now, I did a quick browse through the forums and Reddit and it seems that streamers of Maplestory private servers were banned from Twitch also. The only user I saw speaking about it was golfsla, but to be fair I don't know if the community already talked about it in the past (I would appreciate if someone pointed some threads to me). But to be honest tho, it seems the community barely noticed it. Does someone know the cause of this? Is there a new copyright policy? I don't want to sound desperate... After all, this may be Nexon purging all streaming service from private servers content that detract potential players from their main game (totally their fault btw)... But do you guys think this may be Nexon preparing grounds to get rid of private servers from the internet once and for all? What do you guys think of all of this?
