    Hello, everyone!

I'm a newbie. Recently, I completed my bishop's gears, so I can 1 hit skele and sell leech.

However, after an intense and four-hour continuous leech selling experience, I'm thinking if there are some other ways to earn money.

I tried to find some tactics in the forum, but most mathods people talking about are selling leech, boss run service and APQ. In fact, there are very little guides related to being a merchant.

I wonder if anyone can give me some clues about making money from fm? Both success and failure experience will be helpful. Thank you!!!!!

Browse often. Learn prices and trends. But most importantly: buy high, sell low. :classy:

That's because revealing specific tactics would directly hurt the merchant's own personal gains as other people would follow the trend.
And very quickly the guide will not be valid anymore.

This is the most accurate explanation of being a merchant.

Another thing that you can do in the FM that I see as part of being a merchant involves scrolling techniques:
    - Low risk scrolling (100% event, 10% earring/bathrobe/bandana/shield)
    - High risk scrolling (30%/70% on all sorts of godly gear)
    - Perfected scrolling (10% + WS on perf items, which is really a 50/50 whether you gain or lose mesos usually)
    - Chaos scrolling attack gear, my personal favorite

I believe this is this most up-to-date price guide. But if you want to maximize merching profits, you need to keep logs of everything yourself. Be as organized as possible (excel/google spreadsheet etc.). The goal is to find out the prices and trends and profit before anyone else does, hence why there isn't really a guide for it. Keep a tab on as many items being sold as you can, because you'd be surprised what items can make you a lot of profit.

It can take some time to get into, but eventually you start to get a feel for what items you see are cheap and buy them right away. You become your own reference :D.

@filter2020 - It really depends how much mesos you have to work with, the more starting meso the more you'll be able to generate. Farming and leeching are very accessible and stable ways to earn meso, bossing can be hit or miss - but still worth looking into

If you are only looking to make meso through the FM I would approach it differently based on how much spendable meso you have:

    Around 1b meso:
-Profit scrolling: I would look for 10% earring int, 10% overall int, 10% overall dex. You can buy the clean item bases from NPCs for basically nothing (single earring & Male/female bathrobe). People buy these items to gamble with 30%'s, but you would be supplying them with a +1 item and since 10% scrolls tend to be cheap there is usually a gap between the average result (1/10) and the sale price so you can expect a small but consistent profit.

-Finished item scrolling: This method aims at selling completed entry level items to newer players. Items like: 10 attack work gloves, 5 int 10 magic attack single earrings, 10 dex earrings, 10 luk earrings, 20 dex bathrobe, etc. The cost of the scrolls 60/70% is extremely cheap and your goal would be to make as many completed (+5/10) perfect items as you can. There is some risk to this method, you're dealing with lower odds but generally you should make a profit assuming you buy the scrolls at good prices.
    Over 2b meso:
-ITCG item/crafting completion (guide): Items like Stormcaster gloves, facestompers, crystal ilbi, balanced fury, even magic throwing knives. These items have a high investment cost, but will commonly see a 30-100M margin profit gap, it takes time to find the crafting materials and it also takes time to sell the finished product (you even have to farm an annoying mob for Balanced fury). These items are fairly stable so I don't think there is much risk, just make sure you get an idea of what prices are before committing to it.
As an obvious rule of thumb, these methods are subject to the free market, prices can change drastically and sometimes these methods won't be viable at all. It's best to check the finished item with an Owl of Minerva (3m) before making any large investments. There are definitely other ways to make meso, but these were the most consistent for me

Thank you! This guide is unbelievably detail and helpful.

In fact, I tried to calculate some tactics, like scrolling 32 tma earring. But I finally found that the ratio of profit is highly depending on the price of scroll, especially the 10% earring int. Considering the time cost to buy those scrolls, I guess selling leech is still a good choice when I can find buyer?

But anyway, being a merchant itself is much more interesting than selling leech!

Thank you! Seems being a merchant won’t be easier than being a leech seller, lol.

I can teach you if you want.

Price guides are never accurate and would make you a bad merchant if you follow guides because you will never take advantage of desperation or opportunitistic factors like events/droprate increased weekends etc.
You'll be rigid and stubborn and that makes a bad merchant.

I've never come across a decent merchant that uses a price guide or even advocates it.

Hit me up in game and I'll guide you for free if you want. I am always in the free market so you should be able to spot me at channel 1 when Im on.

Find your niche, be persistent and commit to merching you do, be kind to people that deserve it and you will succeed.
Whatever you will do or merch, if you do it everyday or almost everyday it will work.

    Best of luck!

If you do it full time, you can make 100mil to 1b a day merching. It's mostly afk.

Just scroll merching could give you probably 100m a day.

There are other items and niches out there, but those are my secrets :).

During covid when our population was at its heights, I used to make around 15b a month merching, have it all tracked on an excel. Probably used around 10 owls a day too (~1-1.5b a month), I don't rely on price guides, they change too much. Good old days .

Edit: I still believe selling leech is the top consistent money maker in the game as profits from merching varies greatly per day. But I would probably never make a mage and sell leech. Too grindy for me!

To merch well you need some bank; a billion or two will be nice. Then you daily scan through FM, all channels, all rooms, store by store. Sometimes for example you find a 200m worth of an item for 160, buy and resell, easy 40m. You just need to be very familiar with prices, and to be patient, cause sometimes things takes time to resell.
also be on the lookout for quick sales on smegas; sometimes people are eager to sell something and they sell cheaper , snatch it.
Take advantage of events; rn for example apples go for around 7,5m, stock them up and hope for prices to go up.
Invest some money in owls and owl some stuff, you might find good deals.
Thats it pretty much, there isn't really much to it, just buy for cheap sell for higher, some periods of time certain things are cheaper, and other time are more expensive.

A very good way to make easy meso is to open up a specific store at the same location every day.

Are you gonna spend 3m on a Vip-TP Rock to El Nath to buy ACP for 500 meso each?
Are you gonna spend 3m on an Owl to buy ACP in fm for 3k each?
Are you gonna go to fm 15-15 and buy 100 ACP for 8k each?

Name your pet 1515AcpStore for free advertising.

I have done the same with refined ores/jewels for quite some time and you can get a very high margin. People are eager to sell Topaz Ores for 5k each and I resold them refined for 169k each.
It also helps to open the store at a place you know will always be room and would be easy to remember.

People find it easier to remember some specific number combinations, For example, 9-11 would be easier for me to remember than 19-8.

You will probably not really find easy to follow merchant guide. As stated before, high-end merchants dont use guides because prices change faster than the price guides (if these change at all). Looking ahead and investing in items that will change value due to events is fairly easy to do.

Exp/Drop chance buffs during an event? Can expect more leech being sold
More leech = More Dragon Scales
More Scales = Scales drop in Price
More Scales = More Dragon Crafting

"Nice! Lets wait until next event to buy a load of scales when they crash!"

Oh wait, that's not what happened....
