ALL Your Character Names: secondpink, thirdpink, Germaphobe Last thing you did: complained on the discord (was also banned there too) Why do you think you got banned?: Ban evasion for account sharing Ban message when attempting to log in: "account denied connection" something like that What GM banned you (optional): doesn't say This ban and this ban appeal is a complete mess. I will post my previous ban appeals for here, and I have absolutely zero qualms about my Tim posting my private conversation with him for relevance (except for hiding personal details of course). I also no longer have access to this conversation. Closed - Ban Appeal | MapleRoyals Closed - Ban Appeal secondpink | MapleRoyals There are multiple forum accounts involved for purposes to be made clear. The first appeal was made by someone who was not me. My account was hacked, and the actual hacker was making that appeal. I had not played Royals for over a year at that time. I messaged Tim on a new forum account (Thirdpink) to verify ownership of that account. I did prove my ownership of that account but also at the same time, admitted to account sharing. In this first appeal, it is very CLEAR that the hacker changed my information (this detail is important). In regards to the account sharing: I had moved onto play in a different private server. I had shared my information with another individual on that server for the lols and was promptly hacked. The information of my accounts across both private servers was the same, and so I assumed that the person trying to hack my Royals account was the same asshole who hacked my account in my other server. When I made the second appeal, this was a time where I was not playing Royals and was playing another private server, of which I said to Tim I was willing/admitted to share my account information with another individual (who disappeared off the face of the earth). How exactly I was sharing the information of my account with this other individual when I no longer knew of its credentials as they were changed without my consent is beyond me, but I said I was willing... so.... At the same time of my admittance of account sharing, I was not playing Royals, and therefore not aware of the Terms of Conditions years ago. Obviously, were it something I was aware of I would not have done so. Of course, the second appeal was denied, and I remained permanently banned. I decided that I wanted to return to Royals this year. And like any reasonable individual who wanted to do the same, they would have to engage in "ban evasion" and assume new identities, which I did. Germyyy was my new forum account. Lo and behold, I got banned again and for ban evasion, and my forum accounts were merged to secondpink (the acccount of which I no longer knew the credentials to), as Dave told me. I did violate the Terms and Conditions of account sharing. My admittance of my willingness was clear. My appeal is not about whether or not I broke the Terms of Conditions. It is not an appeal where I pretend that the consequences of the infraction aren't what they are in the Terms of Conditions. The appeal is that the permanent ban on me as an individual is unreasonable and that this is an issue that ties in to how Royals administers over its server. This is not just an appeal, but a discussion on how to better govern its policies in regards to people who break the Terms and Conditions, how to solve issues as opposed to following a guidebook. My admittance to my infraction came when I was not playing Royals, and therefore not aware of the Terms and Conditions. If I were playing Royals, then I don't have a good excuse as to not know the rules, but it's another thing when the game is literally the last thought in your mind. I would have never deliberately broken rules pertaining to MapleRoyals, nor have I exploited, hacked, glitched, never harassed a player, or played the game in any unethical manner. I could no longer access my other forum accounts, when they were merged to an account I no longer have credentials of and this very detail is extremely clear in the first appeal. So as to why my forum accounts were merged to one I didn't have access to is beyond me when the Staff can be easily aware of this detail. But I am banned again. I understand, in life we follow guides, we follow standard operating procedures that are laid out to us to do our job. It's the red tape. If you were among the Staff of Royals and did your job and followed the groundwork laid out for you, you permanently ban me. It doesn't mean the ban is reasonable if taken into context of... literally everything. The original decision to add account sharing to a list of major infractions was, if my comprehension is correct, to prevent abuse/players gaining an unfair advantage. Nowhere is there any indication that could be made where my unintentional violation of the Terms and Condition was made for any kind of advantage. Why permaban someone who has shown no indication of doing anything bad for your server, and then take the time and effort to ban him again when he's just minding his own business and trying to be a willing contributor to the community/server? We follow standard operating procedures that are laid out to us to do our job, but we also still have the freedom to execute reasonable judgement. This applies to every job, if something seems wrong with your procedure or you are tasked to do something you don't think is right, you have the justification to not obey. This applies to the courts too, when a person who is guilty of speeding is also speeding because they have some kind of emergency, not every judge will give them a harsh sentence in accordance to their guidebook. They have the means to act as reasonable and even kind people. And so, the question to this becomes clear. Not withholding any knowledge of my situation, is it reasonable to permanently ban me as a player from playing Royals?, as opposed to helping to ensure I do not violate the Terms and Conditions by allowing me to play and changing my credentials to something secure? Aside from the countless bans and ban appeals that concern vote abuse, there are those certain other bans that are permanent bans administered to players who also objectively do not harm the server/play in an unethical manner. Some examples (too lazy to link) include the permanent ban on someone who was macrobotting for pet closeness and another was denying a ban appeal to someone who requested a permanent self ban. Both of these instances, including mine ultimately result in axing players from the playerbase for objectively harmless behaviors meanwhile people guilty of harassment or minor vote abuse receive temporal bans. Do I think I have a chance in getting this appeal through and successful? I doubt it. But I am asking staff to execute reasonable judgement and ask themselves if they think it is a good practice to permanently ban individuals from Royals for objectively harmless behavior even if they are a technical major infraction of the Terms and Conditions. This isn't an appeal for the hackers or vote abusers or RWTers, these are for the people who think it harmless to share mules with their significant others or siblings, or the people who settle upon a weird glitch in Papulatus but just finish the boss anyhow. There is a strictness of MapleRoyals that is the very definition of unwelcoming. In their attempt to keep this server fair and fun for all, they are also getting rid of players who would also only make Royals a better place. These are people of which as staff of MapleRoyals, instead of permanently banning them and deliberately gutting players from the game, why not help or guide these players to play how the game should be played? Rules not withstanding, a reasonable person with governance powers over my scenario would have simply reminded me of the rules regarding account sharing in the Terms and Conditions, and that if I wanted to play again I should remember them and then help me change my credentials. A reasonable person with governance over the person macrobotting for pet closeness (not for hacks or vaccing or whatever) would remind that player that such programs are against the rules, they should stop doing it, and if they don't then they would receive a ban. A reasonable person with governance over the person who wanted to appeal his permanent self ban would, for gods sake, just revoke the ban. But instead, in all these scenarios, a permanent ban of the person from MapleRoyals was the solution. It is not to say that these bans are not justified, but that the policy of taking time and effort to enforce these bans and prevent ban evasion are unreasonable. Humans aren't perfect individuals, so why do those who have shown no unethical manner of playing the game receive the very worst punishment reserved for the very worst offenders? The staff merged my forums account to an account I had no knowledge of its credentials when they could have easily been aware of this detail. That's a mistake, a very egregious mistake that was a direct hindrance by preventing me from appealing. I'm not going to crucify them for it. And here I am, needing to make another forum account, of which could easily be merged to the account I do not know its credentials to.
