Just saw that my account seems to be banned, and my only guess as to why is that about 6 years ago I attempted to help my brother regain access to his account (as I know he would never make the effort himself), and after going through some pms with Tim he replied that "account sharing is not allowed" and hasn't replied since, and I don't believe I tried logging in since. We have NEVER shared or used each others accounts at any point. In regards to the information I had, for email and dob, I can't NOT know that, he's my brother. I know his login id as well but that's because he's always used the same thing for anything maplestory related. I also know that YEARS ago we had posted an irl pic here with each other for voting purposes if that matters for ip purposes, and haven't lived with each other for a few years now. If any other information is required please let me know.
To clarify, this does count as account sharing. The relationship involved is irrelevant. Whether it is siblings, partners, or besties (close friends), recovering an account on behalf of another person is not permitted. This also includes sharing login credentials or logging into someone else’s account, even "just to help".
If that fits your definition of "sharing", then sure. I know it doesn't matter, but looking back again I was actually the one that made the account for him initially, probably about 10 years ago. I do feel that anyone with any semblance of common sense would see this situation resulting in what I can only assume is a permanent ban to be a REALLY silly thing. I suppose I shouldn't be terribly shocked though considering that this server has always had a track record for being egregiously strict when it comes to rules/bans, as if pretending to be an actual official server (which would not be this strict). Tim also only knew because I told him this was the case, very sorry for being honest!
Although there is an admission of account sharing, I think it would be considered minor account sharing as long as you had not actually logged into or played the account. The actual reason you were banned was for hacking in 2020. Do you remember this?
Yeah THAT I definitely do not remember. I've never once used hacks on any form of Maple. I did attempt to play back in early (March) 2020, when making that appeal, but I'm not sure if I ever actually logged in back then. Since then I don't think I've touched this server until I tried logging in tonight. I apologize for my attitude as well, just didn't want to be locked from a server for some silly reason. EDIT-Also no, I never actually logged onto or played the account, was only trying to get him access so he could play with me.
I'm going to ask an admin to look into this. Please wait patiently for their response, it may take awhile. At least from the information I can see, I think your account was compromised, and that the person who broke into it used hacks.
Sure thing, thank you for the response. It's very possible the account was compromised, though I'm unsure through what avenue. I've run into this situation a long time ago in another game. I assume IPs would show the necessary info, though I'm not sure if there's any information I could provide to help at this point.
Other games, no. Other pservers, yes I have. Definitely stupid to do, but haven't had an issue with it until now. I haven't played too many other servers, but couldn't tell you what server I may have played back in 2020 if any.
