i got banned for profane language today until the 1st of sept, can i ask why? if it was something to do with me telling tere to "fek" off, its because he was threatening me and my other guildy in gs2, I have no proof because i dnt screenshot everything that happens on maple, but he was threatening to ks us if we didn't leave the map etc etc... also may i ask why isn't there a profanity/curse blocker on the game, so that I know what is unacceptable language... In Ireland "Fek" is a commonly used word and isn't considered as a swear word... how would i know that this word wasn't allowed in the game? "Fek" is a far less serious word than "Fuck" and i didn't smega "Fuck" off did I? even on TV theres programmes where they say "Fek" before the 9pm cutoff where after there is sexual scenes/swear words/bloody scenes etc... I apologise if i have offended any1, and next time i will screenshot Tere threatening me and my guildies for no reason other than we were in a map with the best spawn...
Maybe you should next time use the report button instead of telling somebody in a smega to "fek off" in a "curse blocker" avoiding way. I would suggest you to read this one more time, too.
i was not avoiding a curse blocker, its a word that is in my day to day vocab. I understand the rules, I apologise that my culture and/or country offends you. I didn't realise there was a report option, in previous servers we had to provide screenshots, and I am not a believer in screenshotting every time some1 does something like this, or i'd be screenshotting all the time T_T some justice that Tere, gets away with not only ksing us for 5mins but threatening us too. :S whatever i'll live for 3days without ye old mappy i'll go watch father ted shouting "Fek off" which in irish terms is basically a simple go away thanks, Your Favourite Leprachaun.
Why not just say "go away" instead. The actual "Fuck off" doesn't mean anything else but in a offensive way and even the irish "Feck off" is classed as an expletive. So... I don't think there is anything more to say here... lol
I assume you haven't been raised/lived in Ireland or you would understand where I am coming from. However i'm not arguing, rules are rules and I can see that "fek" not is offensive to Non Irish people, so I will not use it anymore as I don't want to upset anyone God Forbid. I have a request though, perhaps the rules on vulgar/offensive language can be expanded, perhaps stating what words are offensive. People from all over the world can play this game, and something that is normal/okay to say in an everyday situation in one location in the world, wouldn't be in another. This is a prime example and hopefully we can all learn from it, I sure have. I'm sure we'll laugh about this in the future. Thanks sir for your time, Your Favourite Leprachaun
I live in Scotland, where people also sometimes use the word "Fek". Wikipedia states it is an expletive. A weakened version of "Fuck". If somebody told me to "Fek off", I would find it offensive.
its a matter of location Scotland is not Ireland, For example we have citizens in Dublin from an african/ugandan/ethiopian/jamaican background, who say stuff like "whats up" followed by the VERY RUDE WORD beginning with N which I am not going to type because you'll ban me forever. now they address each other with this word even though its a very frowned upon word yet they see it as perfectly fine to call each other that, obviously i'm not speaking for every single person of a black skinned ethnicity, infact some of them frown upon the word too (excuse my description of their skin). But it shows you that some words depending on your upbringing/location/heritage/country bla bla bla can be acceptable where as others find it really offensive. just saying, I just would like you to understand where I'm coming from, and i'm not insinuating that it may/should be okay where you live. Thanks, Your Favourite Leprachaun
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feck Just wikipedia'd "Fek" and I quote : "Magners Irish Cider have received complaints relating to an advert in which a man tells bees to "feck off": members of the public were concerned that young children could be badly influenced by seeing this advert. Magners claimed that the "feck off" mention in the advert was a "mild rebuff" to the bees, rather than an expletive. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled that the poster is suitable for display" An advertising standards Authority (ASA) even said that it was a suitable word... and this is an authority that governs what should and should not be on advertising so that children cannot be badly influenced. In the same way I said "fek off" to Tere I was using it simply as a "mild rebuff" to get rid off him. If I really wanted to offend, I could have used the word "Fuck" however I didn't as that word is a harsh inappropriate word. If our children can be exposed to the word "fek" it surely means it is not harmful or the ASA would have surely closed the advert down :S Thanks, Your Favourite Leprachaun
I'm going to unban you but...! I don't want to see you writing it to somebody again because people could really feel offended by your irish habits.
Thanks a lot ^^ I apologise for all of this and I will not be saying that word again I appreciate now that it offends people and have learned my lesson. Thanks for understanding.
