Recently, we've been given updates about BBC firing Jeremy Clarkson or not and it's been confirmed. Not only has BBC lost a huge amount of viewers but they've also made one of their greatest shows they'll ever have fall apart. Top Gear has given me, surprisingly, a lot of information about cars and a whole new vision of the world around but not to forget the joy of seeing the crew suffering from all kind of pain, whenever it's funny or not to just flourish of joy. It's sad that such a great show is about to wither. BBC, you fucked up hard. Real hard. Are there any Top Gear fans/haters out there that'd love to share their opinion on this?
I think it's absolutely ridiculous that they got rid of such a personality but from what I've read, he's been treading on thin ice for quite some time and he continued to push the envelope. At some point, the brass at BBC had to say enough is enough. Really, I see it both ways.
Yeah, he's always been pushing BBC's limit to the max and I got to say that it's part of his fault for doing it. Nonetheless, leaving such a personality when Top Gear has been his favorite work is just sad. He'll probably go back as a journalist or it's just a matter of time on what will happen next.
I'm probably the only person "into cars" who hates Top Gear. A lot of my friends are rioting and I'm just like..."really?" I haven't read much into what happened but he sounds like a royal pain in the fuckass to work with. Punching someone is never okay.
I'm agreeing with @John here. Whereas I think that Top Gear won't be nearly as successful without Clarkson (honestly, what is Top Gear without Clarkson constantly ridiculing James and Richard?), it still doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. I'm not too informed on it, but from what I've heard/read (punching the director? way to go, not), it's not surprising and his behaviour shouldn't be tolerated.
Although Jeremy Clarkson almost certainly played a large part in making Top Gear so popular, he's been pushing his luck for a long time. I found him highly entertaining for the most part, but then he'd come out with bigoted remarks which made me absolutely wince. The only thing that surprises me is that he didn't get fired sooner, tbh.
I liked Top Gear, not nearly as much as my friends were into it...but I liked it. Definitely won't be the same and forsure lost me as a viewer, but in any case decking a coworker(as satisfying as it may sound over racial statements being made toward him) you're 100% losing your job. RIP Top Gear
