Hey guys, I don't know if this has been suggested before, but it occurred to me that it wouldn't be too much coding and can brighten somebody's day. Here's so more explaining: Since most or all of us (I don't know if it was obligatory) have set a date of birth in our profile, why should you guys not implement a feature that gives anyone on his or her birthday a little birthday present, this doesn't have to be of any value, but can be a simple cake or whatever. I know I would very much enjoy it! I understand that it might be possible to change your date of birth in your profile, but I'm sure with the number of brains in the forum we can work something out. What are your thoughts?
A cake sent to my very own home? OT: If talking about an NPC that sells you birthday cakes? Hell yeah. The cakes are giftable only and can only be used during the birthday boy/girl's day. But but, such require an implement to the system and I doubt it will happen.
I've actually thought about this a few times in the past and thought it could be a great idea. Some of the problems I see are coding it or people using fake birthdays, but maybe this could encourage people to use their real birthday in the first place. Depending on what it is, implementing it could be a pain, but if it's something simple like an automated shoutout, a scrolling notice at the top of the screen, or maybe a forum thing, that should be fairly easy. Now if we're talking about actual items, no matter what they may be, the easiest way to do it would be having a GM or admin give the item directly to the person. I don't think that would be an efficient way of doing it, making an automated system would probably be best. But that also makes it more dificult to code.
I guess a banner would be a big step already or when you login you get a pop up with anyone's name who's birthday it is (if this person is online) so you could give them a treat if you feel generous. But then again, the changing birthday would be a problem, of course they could make it so you can only change your birthday once in the existence of your account and maybe if you'd like to change it afterwards you'll have to pay a small fee or something alike
I guess the answers to these are the same: Yep, the idea was to not make it obligatory of course. There could be either a box to tick to get a 'special birthday' or you aren't obligated to fill out your date of birth or something along the lines.
Doesn't matter how many votes you get. If John, Matt or Kat say no, then it's a no. I think one of the weathers used as a birthday login could be a cool idea (the one with the bear cake things). It could just say "Happy Birthday, character name!" (I'm fairly certain this is possible to only show a specific message weather to a specific person upon login but I've never toyed with this before.
It's a bit early (about half a year off), but I guess the spamming helps raise visibility Happy birthday to you too, in advance, SodeNoShirayuki!
More opinions at always good, but regardless the staff would need to agree that it's a suitable idea. If we do, then it can be passed over to our developer for implementation. But of course we are really busy at the moment so that won't happen any time soon anyway.
