Bishop as main character

I havent played on MapleRoyals for a long time, probably months. Recently I had more free time to play so I came back, I have a Bishop level 141. I was wondering if I can play bishop as a main character or would that be kinda ridiculous? Because Bishops seem to be more a farming class and serve as HS mules and such, not a main character to play.

 

Play whatever you want to play.

Sure there a quite some hs-mules out there but I'll take an active on to zakum any day.
Bishop is very fine class as first character, even without selling leech you can farm insane meso and also no need to apple for bossing splits

If you want to solo-main a perma beginner, do it. Don't let anyone tell you that's not a thing, fuck them. You don't need people like that in your life

 

Active bishops are wanted in endgame content and play active roles in bosses, being responsible for casting holy shield, dispelling debuffs/defense up, and healing the seduce target. No one will make fun of you for playing a bishop as your main.

That said, please do be aware of the limitations of the class. Bishops are terrible at soloing bosses for daily NX, and it feels pretty bad to die instantly if you forget to recast magic guard... though you might consider HP washing your bishop if it's actually going to be your main

 

my real life bro left this server (like 1-2 years ago) because people were getting more and more toxic towards him over the years being an active bishop that wants xp and drops from bosses such as everyone else. Especially CWK and Krex are almost technically unplayable as a bishop main, since people will not respect you and just bring a mule and not waste the precious trio slots for a HS mule. Even worse, bosses such as Shaolin are absolutely 100% impossible for you since no one would ever trio Shaolin with an active BS (except stupid ppl such as me for instance). Bosses such as Showa BOSS and Ninja Toad are technically unplayable by design since the first requires at least 3 active BS in the bossing squad, and since BS is extinct, there will be no raid parties. The latter, you will NOT join as a BS main since - see above - people will NOT want you!

If you happen to have friends or know nice people, maybe you can play, but you will be dependent on their grace.

However meta seemed to have shifted to the positive in guilds at least, there is quite a bunch of active BS in the few guilds I am in and obviously an active BS is WAY superior than HS mule by A LOT. In HT especially makes me happy to see active BS there instead of mules!

So I would say, if you wanna try your BS you NEED to join a guild that needs a real BS.

If you get tired of begging for existence, I wanna suggest that you create a new account for a so called "attacker", because I did the mistake of not respecting this mule bulls**t and now I am stuck with my two mains on one account for now, which is an extreme disadvantage in this server.

 

I'd like to add that if you are capable of making friends.
You can do whatever content you want to do with whatever character.

I have done zakum and krex runs on a level 135 no-zerk, 35 int zhelm, 20 int bathrobe, omega spear, warrior elixir using DK.
I have done daily zakum and krex runs on my BM from level 135 to 150 with 200 base int wearing gear i randomly found along the way before lending bow from guildie.
I have also done multiple zakum runs on my IL mage.

If you feel like you cannot play the game because of some meta or because people prefer mules over you as a main, than you are also part of the problem.

A lot of runs are being organised within guilds/alliances or social-cirkels. Very rarely am I participating in group content that had a single smega used. I am in very active and social groups. As a new/returning player you are probably do not have that.

I can very much reccommend organising your own runs. When I returned after a ~2 year break, as a level 140 DK and responded to R > Zak. I would get "Sry, we got a 180 NL" pretty often. If I'd smega R > Zak, I ran within 15 minutes.
Within days I found myself in very active and social groups.

Sure, there is some content bishop is not very viable. DK is not s+tier for every piece of content either. There are so many things to do. For both of these I see no reason why at some point you are unable to play or progress your acount.
If you don't think bishop is fun to play. Well at least you can leech yourself another character very fast.

If at any point in time you are not having a great time playing this game, do something else. It's a game, have fun.

Now the bishop is very requested, you can even make SE, CR mules and they will take you everywhere, you can also increase his life with the wash technique !

 

Active bish is pretty bad in krex (it's literally afk 10-15 mins, cast hs, repeat. Nothing else to do) and people want max profit from cwk usually, but zak, ht, and vl all can gain quite a bit from active bishop. As for shao, it's uncommon but occasionally I'll see people looking for someone to hs them for loot, but no exp.

You're also one of the best classes for grinding mobs, far outstripping any bossing class' capabilities. If you want it's perfectly viable to hit 200 without really bossing at all, and earning billions in the process.

 

Hi again all. Well basically, what happened is I thought about it and decided to start a Dark Knight. I even called him DarkKnighttt(DarkKnight was taken unfortunately). How is this class?

I found also a Shadower on my old account. Hes level 135. Whats better for me, shadower or dark knight?

There is no real unviable class at this point. Just unviable people.

Classes such as Marksman or Hero have not received similar love as other classes have but we can expect some increase in their value in the future.
Royals is actively looking to improve Class Balance.
Sure, some content is not meant for some classes to excel at, but fuck that.

 

Thanks, I kinda agree. All classes can be great but some like Marksman or Buccaneer are very rare choice. I might also start a Marksman maybe or maybe even corsair. I like rare classes to feel unique. Do you know what a unique feeling is?

I got another question also. If i stick with dark knight, this class doesnt need to do hp washing, or still need to?

 

Buccaneer is really good, in demand and not rare!
Pally got a recent buff to Crash, its a party buff now. You'll be able to find boss parties with 200 Base INT, wearing a wooden club. Pally is also pretty strong attacker!

I do recommend a little HP-Washing with DK.
Iirc, I had like 70 total int, 40 base and a 30+ INT Zhelm from level 50. I got a HTP at level 120. This was enough to wash to 18k at level 135.
HP washing with DK is very cheap and APR prices are basically rock bottom lately.

 

This is probably irrelevant for MapleRoyals, but I also have a Xenon. You see, Xenon is a hybrid post bb class available only on post bb servers. I play on the official maple story server called Reboot. Xenon unfortunately doesnt exist on MapleRoyals, so I cant play it here.

Can you explain what you all think about Xenon?

Other than that, on pre-bb universe, I think the best classes are actually the least played ones like Corsair, Marksman.

 

I think playing Bishop as a main would be pretty ridiculous. I mean, it's supposed to be a farming and HS mule - not a "real" character. So it should not be treated as a main, and you should instead create a proper character as your main.

 

You can also always main a bishop, and still maintain a secondary for bossing
