I'll just get straight to the point: Characters who don't contribute in any way shouldn't deserve presents. There are two types of people: 1. People who contribute snow/help to kill the snowman boss/bring their main and maybe one other character 2. People who camp/do not contribute snow/do not help to kill the snowman boss and yet still say things like "hurry up" while others are attacking/bring half a dozen mules (a rough estimate) and loot multiple presents We are all thankful and grateful towards the number 1s, but the number 2s are truly the black sheep of the community. My friends and I have personally encountered several of such people (whom I will not name as this thread isn't meant to be a personal attack), and it just really ruins the whole Christmas vibe and spirit. Campers and freeloaders (you know who you are) are hard to prevent or even avoid, but I think something can done to make this a fairer game for everyone. Having discussed with several royalers, here's a suggestion we think could be helpful: - Only characters who have caused reasonable amount of damage to the snowman boss will be allowed to loot presents e.g. >100 hits The snowman boss(es) in total has 135,000 HP (it's considered a lot since we're doing only 10dmg/hit), requiring each character who wants a present to do only 100+ hits isn't too much to ask for. If a character doesn't do enough damage, he wouldn't be allowed to loot the presents ("This item is unavailable for the pick-up.") So if somebody wants to bring that many mules to the map, go ahead - just make sure that all of the mules do the required damage to be able to loot presents. Doing the minimal required damage to the snowman is a form of contribution and so yes, you deserve presents! The whole point of this is to discourage campers and freeloaders who undermine the efforts of others. If anyone else has ideas to contribute too, do tell! Have a very Merry Christmas everyone <3
Pretty good idea +1. The people who do the "hurry up" and other shit at the very least need to shut the elf up.
I like this idea. It just annoys me and many others that some people, even prominent members or even GMs on their legits (not giving names, I don't want to accuse anyone), camp the boss with 2 or even 3 characters and get several presents for doing nothing. The amount of hits needed is debatable. 100 sounds okay, but it could be lowered to, say, 80 or 70 maybe.
I contribute, I attack. lol. I attacked enough to qualify for both characters (just now for example), and I'd switch to Blaze for 100 hits if needed. The problem is those that just stand there doing nothing on all of their characters. I'm not a hypocrit... ._.
Even when I brought my other chars I contributed snow from both and attacked. The ones who stand there and watch the snowman get killed only to loot everything are annoying, yes, but I'm not sure how easy something like this is to implement.
While I usually make it a point to attack on one of the two characters I bring to snowman, there have been times where I'm particularly laggy at the event, and it's all I can do to not DC while standing still, let alone to join in and attack. It doesn't help that I'm on the mac client and have to GFX every 20 seconds if the snowman is on my screen. The people who are clearly present, moving around and talking without attacking though? That's sum BS yo.
+1 If you're attacking and have a mule or 2 okay, but some people really abuse it and it causes issues for all of us(lag). Even if nothing can be done during this event, devs should take note from this event and figure something out for the next similar event. Like Jmmainvi said too, I've seen countless people standing idle there but as soon as the snowman comes close they move out of the way and continue being idle, same for the people that stand around chatting while the snowman is there.
It also doesn't help that people have the audacity to log on their mules right after they've received their presents on their main. The event has gotten to a point where the majority of the presents will be give and getting extras is almost impossible.
Some people lag when they get too close to the Snowman, such as myself. The lag dies down the further I distance myself from it.
I'm a mac user too and I have so far managed to attack reasonably okay. Yes it lags but I just gfx when the next snowman appears, and sometimes in the middle! Mostly I dc only when the map gets really crowded with lots of characters coming in :/
So far I have cashed in 3 presents, a bit depressing considering how I normally train on other channels to avoid lag, it's sad to believe that people how have not contributed any snow cash in far more than 100 presents for all those prizes. I seriously think we need to think of a way to fix this. I've also contributed more than 1000 snow, although it's not too much, I think I deserve more than 3 presents.
If you're going to sit here and complain about dcing when you attack, you sure as hell better not be multiclienting in the event.
We've done basically as much as we can to reduce client any sided lag. We have made it so that the only attacks that work in the map are regular attacks and made it so that no skills work. There is not a lot else we can really do to solve that unfortunately. I've seen you mention this a few times, so I thought I'd better clarify that being on a 'less populated' channel will not make any difference to lag. As all the channels are on the same server, when the server lags, it affects all channels.
You can just make it like how mob loot is? People who attacks has 30seconds to pick up, then it's pickable for others who did nothing?
