I am by no means an expert on fashion and I tend to follow trends as time goes on. Yet, in the area I live, it seems that there is a big divide on how we dress. Some people enjoy wearing snap backs and graphic t-shirts while others enjoy wearing a collared shirt and a sweater. I've wondered what others prefer when they dress themselves for the day. I personally dress with "class" for a cleaner look, although I do own some graphic t-shirts and snap backs. I am kind of divided in the middle, but I am leaning more towards dressing with class. What do you guys prefer?
I'm usually clean cut leaning toward smart casual. IMO you can't go wrong with an oxford shirt tucked into a nice pair of chinos; it's incredibly versatile. I can appreciate the "swaggier" looks but I've never invested in them, simply because I don't find myself in circumstances where I can pull it off. Will post some albums later on.
I mostly dress sporty with snapbacks (short shorts or extremely distressed jeans that I roll up partially, with crop tops or long, jersey-like tanks, sometimes with flannel button up shirts tied around the waist), or very prim and proper (short dresses with a collar for example, or black dress pants, a loose dress shirt and a fitted blazer), also with snapbacks and sneakers. It makes it feel more casual and dressed down, and it feels kind of ironic, which I like.
Nice fitted khakis and a nice design fitted shirt or tee with clean shoes. Don't mess with the classic
I guess it comes down to a matter of goals and preference. I've always approached men's style from a practical lens, and I tend to look for a couple of things: Versatility: should fit in at least 2 or 3 different outfits Cut: should be slim enough to define your figure without being restrictive Trend: should be a slight notch above the style trends of your demographic and the common environments you find yourself in For my own wardrobe, well cut chinos (slim through the thigh, 14''-14.25'' leg opening) are a staple because they fit almost anywhere on the casual-formal spectrum, and you can dress them up or down. That's what I meant by "can't go wrong" because anyone can incorporate chinos into their wardrobe and look nice by most common standards. Examples of chino's versatility well-taken pictures of people looking dapper in chinos: And it's nice to see this discussion picking up. Maybe we can turn it into a style thread, sprinkled with pictures and stuff
