Client crashes post character selection after new patch, debate & fixes.

Rest assured while the developers try to fix related issues.

Please note:
Unchecking compatibility, will bring back all known skill related issues, such as:
Boomerang Step not stunning correctly
Ice Splitter not freezing mobs
Sniper: Blizzard. Does not always freeze proc enemies.

General issue description: "After downloading the new client (IMG/WZ setup), the client seems to crash after character selection, the screen would go black and then either automatically close the process, or process will hang (not responding).
Antivirus filters were updated right after the installation complete."

@Tobi has mentioned the same issue and a possible solution, after removing the compatibility option, issue for some players seems to be resolved. (As it did for me - no crashes for 3 clients for more than 4 hours).

Compatibility option checkmark shall be removed.
Here is an image of confirmed to work (for most) settings in compatibility tab of the game launcher found in the game folder:

Greyed out? - Click on change for all users option at the bottom, requires admin rights. If not possible, go to game source folder, copy game launcher executable and paste it in the same folder, creating a duplicate that allows to bypass admin rights.

For others that it does not resolve the issue, what steps have you taken so far? Or if you found an alternative solution, please mention it below.

Hi this helped along the way but the crashes doesn't stop as they seem very random.

Can stay online for awhile then all of sudden client crashes again.

Edit: getting new years present from certain mobs, latest one were gatekeepers in ludi

 

I'm having the same issues.

 

Windows 8 compatiblity mode working for me (win11 pc), all others crashed after a 10-15 seconds, been on for 5 mins now.

edit: opening second client, the second client crashes instantly

 

The compatibility uncheck didn't work for me but running in compatibility mode for Windows NT 4.0 sp5 did so try just trying them all and see if one works. When I try any of the other compat modes my client crashes immediately upon log-in.

Never mind my game crashed and now none of them work

 

another bug in the patch, CPQ1 mobs arent dropping potions/items, just Maple Coin sometimes.

edit: cpq working fine now, not sure what was causing it.

 

This solution works for me so far, but is it a problem to run without compatibility ? (maybe some futur problems)

 

This is the only combo that works for me. No DC yet, everything running smoothly Just alt+enter to enter fullscreen mode once you reach login

Been having this issue too, I haven't tried any compatibility mode yet but bizarrely it seems to crash only sometimes, only on some of my characters. I've been unable to log onto my main, but I can log onto one of my alts, the one I most recently created. Hoping for some kind of fix or even a version rollback at this point.

 

I've also tried all versions of compatibility checks and I'm still having the same issue.
How are the others playing without a problem..??

 

Seemingly, pure luck. It's really strange because it only works sometimes, only on certain characters for me, and sometimes changing channels will just crash me again.

 

I tried all versions of compatibility checks and I can't log in. here are the conditions those I meet
1.I logged in the game,but when I changed chanel I will blackscreen then dc.
2.I logged in the game after 5-10 sec I crash then out of the game.
3.If I met condtion 1 and log in again.I selected chac ,type PIC then no any reaction,dc again.
4. same as condition 3 but not dc, I directly blackscreen.

Disabling windows 7 compatibility allowed me to login but:

1) this issue https://royals.ms/forum/threads/priest-doom-skill-bugged.200774/ is back, affecting some skills like Doom, freezing skills, and DOT skills

2) single clients crash quickly after opening more than 3, and randomly still with 3 or fewer clients

I did cloned the maplestory.exe and it worked
(just ctrl+c then ctrl+v the executable and run it)
