To staff members et al. Let me start by saying I really appreciate the current efforts by all staff members while this update is taking place. I know there is a lot going on behind the scenes that many don't seem to understand. It pains me that some people don't have the patience to support a fantastic server during a time of difficulty. I'd also like to thank many of the general population for their support of new and old players who are experiencing new issues in the sense to resolve them. I don't want to appear to come off as selfish or demanding during this post, and if I do please don't take it the wrong way. I'm hoping that some more information could be regarding the issues with the server. I understand that asking for time frames for updates is unrealistic, but would it be possible to update the current bugs with a priority or status? This gives the general population a vague indication on what bugs are currently being focused on, and a rough idea on what could be repaired first. I understand as of this post that the issues regarding the server stability would be of the highest priority, but as features return every twenty four hours it would be a nice addition to the current post. Finally, would it be possible to update the shout box server status, when the sever is offline, with the reason the sever is offline. Some examples; The sever is OFFLINE for scheduled update; The server is OFFLINE because of a crash. Updates are expected every twenty four hours at the moment, but there is no permanent time written down that I have found yet. The staff have been great with keeping the shout box updated, but it's just appears to be inconsistent. It is difficult at the moment, and a lot of people don't see how the changes being made are better in the long run. While the sever has many issues, the more information available to the general population offers them a better sense of how much work is going behind the scenes, and can reduce frustration. I don't speak for others, and do not wish to consult them through a vote. I'm simply voicing an idea. Adding a vote to the thread adds pressure to release information that may have been withheld for a reason. I'll leave this in the hands of the staff members to discuss and address as they seem appropriate. Thank you to all those who have read this post though. Kind regards, Steven Disclaimer Within this thread I have made suggestions to improve communication from staff members to the general population. The outcome of this thread is entirely up to the staff members. Feedback from staff and other players is encouraged. The general population may show there support through a reply however are advised not to pressure or demand these suggestions to be implemented. Further suggestions can be made in the form of a reply to this thread. You can ask to have the original post amended to include your suggestion after this disclaimer under your name, staff members may make this amendment in my absence. If there are any issues within the thread itself, please advise myself so the appropriate amendments can be made.
The reason the bug list itself isn't sorted by priority or what will be fixed first is because minor bugs are kinda getting fixed sporadically. It goes something like this "btw Kevin how hard is it to quickly fix X or y while your at it?" And he either fixes it or it isn't a quick fix so it's pushed back to later. The larger things, the core functions, we don't have an estimate for but when I hear he's working on something today, I tell the shout box as he's updating us. I told people the storage was being fixed, and channels should be getting the worked on too. Plus, some of the smaller things like npc fixes are done by Matt or Andreas while Kevin works on the big stuff. As for shout box status, I've been trying to keep it updated. Sometimes I just don't have the time to write more than " The server is color=red] offline" or sometimes I just can't look at all that bbcode and actually figure what what goes where. We're trying to be better at communicating, at least.
