Corsairs really need to wash? And how much? (considering NT and all the recent and future bosses)

I really want one Corsair, but I often get confuse about HP wash on him, since everyone says that boat breaks more depending on the HP you have. So, what should I do? How much HP I Should get? I see a lot of guides telling the numbers that a boss can hit you, but no one tells you clearly if you can avoid that hit or not...I just want to know how much HP I need to do every boss/content in the game, with HB at least.

You most likely can’t avoid the hits as a sair

it’s just about your timing getting on and off your boat. The reason people hesitate to wash sairs too much is due to the 1/1 spells.

You absolutely need to wash to do bosses like Shao/Toad/Horntail - 12K and you should be good for shao and HT

As stated above, higher HP of a corsair only becomes a problem if you are hit by 1/1 magic attack while on the boat. Skilled corsairs dismount before the 1/1 attacks land on them so HP doesn't really matter at that point. If you are a lazy person who likes watching youtube/Netflix while playing royals, Corsair isn't meant for you - or if you have a biological disorder that hinders quick reaction.

Washing is optional depending on how serious you are about this game. If you want to play mildly with a light heart, even a none-washed corsair can enjoy the majority of the content (look at royals no.1 sair Kaizoku's HP). Corsair can still lvl to 200 without going Shaolin and Toad. Those are only 2 bosses out of many, including plenty of area bosses that are easy prey for sairs. I only went to ~7 shaolin and ~2 Toad while I leveled to 200 on my corsair.

If you want to enjoy every high-hp requiring content (Shaolin & toad) from the min lvl, I recommend washing to ~8.5k HP by lvl 135. I'll explain how I reached that value.

According's to Shiyui's HP charts, the average natural HP of corsair at lvl 175 (min lvl for toad) is 6338 HP.

    With HP quest + 500 HP = 6838 HP.

Equips can get you about ~950 HP.
    • 4th job medal + 200HP
    • MON + 300 HP
    • Black belt + 300 HP
    • 2 Carat lovebird ring (valentine event) + 150 HP
But since not all of them are readily available, let's assume that's about 800 HP from equips.

With HP from equips + 800 HP = 7638 HP

You need about 16500 HP to safely survive in Toad. Let's say 17000 to make the maths easier.
Don't bother washing to this value because it will cost an astronomical amount of mesos which isn't worth the effort. Just find an HB party.

    17000 / 1.6 (HB) = 10625 HP needed at lvl 175

    Amount of HP needed to be washed = 10625 - 7638 = 2987 HP
    _________________________________________________________________
Average natural HP of corsair at lvl 135 is 5338 HP.

    Ideal target HP at lvl 135 = 5338 + 2987 = 8325 HP ~~~~ make it 8500 HP with round up.
The natural HP gain from lvl 135 to 155 is ~500 HP.

If you wash to 8.5k by lvl 135, you'll have around
    (9000 HP + 500 HP from quest + 800 HP from equips) = 10k+ HP at lvl 155
which is enough to survive in HT without HB.

There are other bosses who deal a lot higher touch damage (Auf Haven in Neo Tokyo dealing 23.5k) but don't even bother worrying about them because ranged attackers aren't meant to touch them. If you have to worry about such, you might as well wash to 30k to survive HT tail touch dmg. Developers gave Corsairs a long-ranged cannon so you can shoot from a far distance, not at a French kiss distance.

I'm not sure about the 130 int part. You will have to sit and do the calculations for int with a pen, paper and a calculator. 12k at what lvl? I already suggested an optimum HP for your goal. If you wish to go for higher, it's all up to you. It'll just cost more.

Use this for what you will- I've MP washed all 5 AP at each level up since level 40ish (I think- even with all AP into INT you don't gain net MP for a while).

I believe sairs get 18 HP for 16 MP so it's pretty hard to wash a lot- also generally pretty unnecessary. You really only need enough to survive boss hits if HB isn't your thing.
