    ~Startup and Login Issues~

    Launching the game does nothing

    1. If you are running Windows Vista or higher, see Error code: -2147024809 (The parameter is incorrect).
    2. The game may be hung in the background. To fix this, do one of the following:
    a) End the MapleRoyals.exe process using task manager or hung apps.
    b) Log out, and back into your user account on Windows.
    c) Download this tool for Windows to end the MapleRoyals.exe process: http://is.gd/e1j0M5
[Note this tool only works on WinXP Professional and greater.]
    3. Your game files may have become corrupted. Please reinstall MapleRoyals.
    4. Other programs on your computer may be preventing MapleRoyals from launching.

    Server check/Firewall
    1. It is because the server is down or in the middle of restarting
    2. If server is up and you have this error, try disabling any antivirus/firewall you have against the MapleRoyals client
    3. You have been IP or MAC banned.
    4. Your internet is not enabled

Black screen at launch and disconnection shortly after
Once starting up the client, you may have not have connected properly and it causes you to get that error "You have been disconnected from the login server". Do not be alarmed, just run the client as administrator again because I do get this error sometimes when starting up MapleRoyals.

Black screen at launch and game gets minimized to taskbar right after
Restart the game, and make sure you remain focus in the window by clicking into the black screen while the game is loading, before it would get minimized.

Account does not exist / Unregistered ID
just restart the client and it should work again. If it doesn't work it's probably is because you installed v62 into the same folder where your GMS or other versions are saved. Make a new folder on the desktop or wherever you want and name it something like Maplestory v62. Then, install v62 into the new folder, put the cilent in the folder you installed v62, and then login. If this doesn't work, your account might be deleted.

    Can't get past login screen
    1. Run the client as an admin (for vista & win 7 users)
    2. If other players can get online, disable your loopback adaptor.
    3. You may have been banned. Post a ban appeal thread.

    Disconnection after character select
    1. Ensure that you have all the patch files installed. (See Announcements)
    2. Add maplestory folder AND client to antivirus and firewall exceptions.
    3. Try to do a character fix on the homepage, user control panel by logging in.
    4. You may be MAC Banned, please post a Ban Appeal.
    5. If you have hamachi turned on - turn it off, it might help.

    ~Error Code Guide~

    Error 38
This error may happen randomly or you stayed in the cash shop for too long. Restart the MapleRoyals client to fix this.
    Other reasons:
    1. It can also be a packet error, meaning that wrong information is sent to the client.
    2. Bugged skills/items/hairstyles etc get you error 38.
If you can pinpoint the cause of this error, please report it in the Report Bug forum.

Error code: -2147287038 (Unknown error 0x80030002)
Make sure you have all the wz files in your MapleRoyals folder.
If this is caused by attempting to double click a player, or access their character info; this is due to an item(s) they have inserted on their wishlist; You can ask the player to remove the items in order to allow players to view their character info again.
If this error was not caused when attempting to access a player's character info, please start a Technical Help thread outlining when this error shows up.

    Error code: -2147467261 (Invalid Pointer)
This error is most likely caused by out of date wz files. Please ensure you have the latest patch installed. If updating wz files does not solve this, and you are able to pinpoint the action that causes this crash, please report it in the Report Bug forum.

Unable to find proper screen mode for gr2d
Try any or all of the below:
    Update your graphics drivers.
    Update your DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

    Run setup.exe
    Troubleshoot the compatibility: (Windows Vista+)
    1. Right click the MapleRoyals client.
    2. Go down till you see "Troubleshoot compatibility" and click it.
    3. A window should pop up asking you if you would like to save the settings, click yes or accept. (MapleRoyals will also open up at the same time, so if you play the game in full screen, you might not see this window until you exit the game.)
<Mac Using Parrallels>: Ensure you have installed guest additions.

This is a problem with Windows Vista users. To fix, read the below steps:

Missing Files, Such As: ijl15.dll, wzmss.dll
    1. Check to see if the MapleRoyals client has been placed in your v62 folder. Put our client where your v62 maple folder is, and open the client there.
    2. If this fails, your MapleRoyals installation may have become corrupted or partially deleted. Please re-install the game files or manually re-install
your missing files by grabbing them from this page: http://royals.ms/forum/threads/manually-install-mapleroyals.19701/

Error code: Hackshield update error 0◊300000003
Use the actual MapleRoyals client, not the MapleStory.exe.

    Error code : x2005530585 unknown error 0x88760827
The common cause of this problem is that something is wrong with the computer's registry and it needs to be fixed. What you can initially do is to restart the computer and try again. If that doesn't work, contact an expert for support, or start a thread in the Technical Help forum. There are other causes for this error too: this is one example.

    ~Disconnections In-Game~

Most disconnections in-game are caused by outdated wz files. Please ensure you have
    downloaded the latest patch files!
A common disconnection occurs when you double click a player, or attempt to view their character info. This may not be caused by outdated wz files in some cases, but because the character has items on their wishlist or a glitched item.

Sometimes you will randomly disconnect from the game while changing channel, entering a map or when NPC errors occur. Such disconnections should not prevail after restarting the game. If disconnection continues while attempting the same action after restarting Royals, please ensure you have the latest patch files, try again, and then seek help in Character Issues or Report Bug.

Maybe re-named to something more general such as Read First - Game Startup Issues
Since it contains more than just error code references.

    Error code : x2005530585 unknown error 0x88760827
The common cause of this problem is that something is wrong with the computer's registry and it needs to be fixed. What you can initially do is to restart the computer and try again. If that doesn't work, use a registry cleaner to fix the problem then restart your computer. There are other causes for this error too: this is one example.

I Highly Disagree with the instructions provided here. Registry cleaners can sometimes damage a person's computer, and most of the ads you see for registry cleaners are trojans. (Would be horrible if someone accidentally downloads malware or uses a cleaner without making a restore point first..)

Least that can be done if this were to stay is a link to which ever registry cleaner is supposed to help in this situation.

If it's a problem with maple registry settings, they can be reset using a simple script. I can make a script that deletes maple's registry settings so that they can be re-made by the client if there's an issue there. If it's other problems, I'll always be around and can help the user troubleshoot the issue.

Gotta sleep, anything else anyone can add?
I just realized I made this windows only. will have to like re-organize for mac users as well.
    Done I guess.

Btw Source code of the KillMapleRoyals.cmd :
    Code:
    @Echo off
    taskkill /im "MapleRoyals.exe" /f
    exit

This error is most likely the cause of a broken feature in the game. If you are able to pinpoint the action that causes this crash, please report it in the

--Actually this usually means you have out of date .wz files. The rare time this happens is when there's a missing frame in an item's animation for example, but most of the time it's WZ issues.

I see. I just knew this happened when someone had a glitched item. and it also happened on certain maps and stuff for me in the past.
    I'll change that then.

What do you mean by reference links? And thanks! :)
Probably best to keep this concise and independant.

For example, the parameter error code fix has a couple bugs. It doesn't work well with bosses. If you provide links to each solution, then it would offer a more flexible solution to error specific issues w/ open discussion.
