Hello all! I currently have a F/P mage and am intending to play a Sindit next. As for my 3rd character, I'm looking to play either a Hero or a Corsair, my reasons for narrowing down to those two are as follows: Hero - Soft spot for Hero as it was my first MapleSEA character - Likes looking at huge numbers for damage ouput - Thinks it'll be significantly different gameplay from my other 2 characters Corsair - Soft spot for wielding guns in Maple lol - Has never tried it before, quit MapleSEA before Pirates even came out - Thinks it'll be significantly different gameplay from my other 2 characters Can you guys provide your feedback based on personal experience? Basically looking for a fun job to play which is significantly different from a F/P mage and Sindit Thanks all!
The correct answer is an islander. Sair! There are so many heroes, and you've already had one. Pirates actually require some thinking to play.
I'm gonna be the devil's advocate and go with Hero. There's two main issues I have with Corsairs and it's their equipment scarcity and Battleship cooldown. It's true that you can just hop off the Battleship before it explodes, it's quite a hassle to keep track of the Battleship HP and know when to hop off especially during boss battles that involve the 1/1 Attack. Corsairs are quite powerful, but their overall and guns are very hard to come by and most of the time, you'll need to scroll your own much like many other Corsairs in MapleRoyals. There are plentiful end game Hero equipment out there because people retire their Heros all the time so getting started with a very high DPS character is easy. Plus, Heros can tank Zakum Body and spam Brandish without having to worry much about getting stunned.
Thanks for your prompt & helpful responses thus far That's the thing, I've quit MapleSEA before pirates were even out and I've yet to find a substantially detailed guide to Pirates for v62 (if anyone can direct me to one they know, that would be amazing haha), so I have no idea how a Corsair (or Buccaneer) works. I've heard that they require thinking to play, just that I don't understand why so if someone can go into detail with me on this, that would be great thanks once again haha Ahhh yes, considering my scrolling luck, this is a huge deterrent xD
Buccaneers can chain their attacks together to avoid damage (different combos for regular mobs and bosses). We also have a different skillset to use during transformation. Sairs make best use of their ship by dodging attacks or de-shipping to avoid taking significant damage on it (such as 1/1 attacks). Every other job stands in 1 spot and spams 1 skill.
Nathan (Intensity) is in the process of making a detailed corsair guide. That should be a good snapshot of what it is like being a corsair. Also, I currently have a lvl 130 Corsair, and I am dealing pretty great DPS even though I am not ridiculously funded.
Both classes have their main attack's Mastery Book 30 so that's also a good thing, although Heros need to kill Zakum for their Advance Combo Attack skill book.
