So currently i've trained my mage to level 31 and made it a Cleric on the advice of countless people that Cleric is a money bag and that i can fund much more easily after that. But i'm not really fond of cleric now seeing how hard it is to train after level 31. I have a level 28 thief but the skills are kinda screwed up, i maxed double stab and lucky seven is only level 1. Any advice? Or should i start a new class? (e.g Corsair, bowmaster, etc. )
You should definitly not make a pure attacker as you dont have much experience, atleast if you plan on hitting late game
Well, if you're really dissatisfied i guess you shouldnt, but remember, pure attackers have it a lot harder grinding at higher levels than mages
Clerics/bishops can get a lot of money due to leeching and farming items. If you want to make a character capable for bossing, it is pretty much necessary to wash it, and that takes a lot of money and time to do. With that being said, it is a good idea to keep a bishop/cleric to help for money and leeching yourself. There are many different ways of making money if you're not interested in creating a bishop. Here is a simple guide to money making
You can never go wrong with Bishop. TLDR my following post: Keep at it because training gets a lot easier, and once you get Genesis, you become a god of magic. Like Kefka Palazzo in FF6. Uwee hee hee! I think the problem you're having is that the 30s-40s are a really annoying level range to train for Clerics. In the 30s, your heal skill isn't at a level where it's capable of doing decent damage, so until 40, you have to rely on the shitty single-target DPS you've been using since the late 10s, and you'll be facing an increasingly difficult exp-curve. And then once you get to 40 and can deal substantial damage with heal, you have no great training choices, with Platoon Chronos existing on an annoying map with lots of ladders, and with the only good Jr. Wraith map being a JQ map which has a 1:30 timer on it anyway. But let me assure you that it does get better. Stick through until 50 or so and you can start training on Coolie Zombies in El Nath or Pac Pinkies in the Ghost Ship. The former is excellent money (personally I made roughly 1b from training at Coolies from 52-89), while the latter is extremely conducive to afk-training (you can set heal to spacebar, stand on the staircase, and just hold down spacebar to train). Once you get past the roadblock that is 30-50, the rest of 2nd job training is a breeze. In third job, things get even better. At 81, once you get max Holy Symbol, everyone will want to party with you, and in the late 80s with high level Shining Ray, you can start fighting Dreamy Ghosts (commonly known as Himes, as "Hime" means "princess" in Japanese). Solo at this level, you can gain upwards from 3 levels per hour, and even in the 110s range, you can expect much more than 100%/hour if duo-ing. Hime is an extremely easy way to train from the late 80s all the way to 120. And then once you hit 4th job and finish your Genesis quest, you basically become a god. I'm not talking about the Sega Genesis, or "Invisible Touch" Genesis, but the ultimate skill which is arguably the biggest tool in the Bishop's toolbelt. Behold: Good luck with whichever class you decide!
The priest 3rd job is extremely boring, you can't grind at all due to the weak damage and have to rely on leeching the whole way. When you go to search ws maps most of the time people already have priests there or the maps are full (and even if you get a party the exp is so slow, leeching the priest with archer actually gave me higher exp than ws party). I have a level 84 priest and quit playing it due to how boring this class is.
The hardest part about 3rd job is just making it through 70-80. But that's the hardest part about any third job, since the exp curve starts to ramp up despite your 3rd job skills not being very powerful at this point. Even in the 70-80 range, you can easily find a map at coolies and stay there indefinitely if you pump a few points in door. Or if that's not your thing, the GS maps are still a decent option. Once you get even a few points in Shining Ray, it's easy enough to go train at Black Kents or MDTs. And a few more levels in Shining Ray and you can start leveling at the Hime map in the late 80s. As for "boredom," Priest isn't any more boring to train and play than any other class. Every class basically boils down to use a few buff skills and spam 1 AoE skill for training. Priests are no different than any other class in this respect. You're playing a ranger in 3rd job? Please enlighten me as to how spamming arrow rain at gobies all day is any more "fun" than spamming shining ray at Hime/MDT all day. FYI I'm 109 and have not leeched a single level. Your statement that Priests "have to rely on leeching the whole way" is patently false.
