Discussion on Islanders @Sila

So regarding islanders, as of now, not being able to participate in any content of the 2nd maple royal anniversary event (3rd royal anniversary) you said that it would be "OP" if they were involved.


Considering that speed is the stat most beneficial to islanders and we already have items like this:

Along with many gomu's that are 10 speed+ (shoe that drops on island), with the assumption that cash shop storage will be available in new source allowing us to have scrolled pet equips will make achieving max speed something that is already possible for islanders.

So I'd like to ask what specifically enables us from participating in these events since we've heard this before with previous events?

 

You are right, everyone can easily one shot everything on the island without even using any event item, and with the maple umbrella its possible to max speed, so there is not really a point in saying that any maple hat or maple wepon will "break" the island, it will only make it more fun.

Just give us at least some part of the event, please, we need this shit to keep grinding.

I never said in specific that this event would be OP for Islanders. I was talking in general, with each event, we do what we can.
This event in specific we mentioned it, and we had a lot to try and get done.
We are, and have been, discussing what we could do for Islanders but what I said is still true. You choose to exclude yourself from 99% of the game by sticking to maple island. We try to include Islanders but we can only do so much.

You literally said in the SS "we're still deciding how to include islanders, without making them OP", which is what I've heard from other GM's regarding other events but what specifically makes it OP? Regarding islanders in this event your statement is all I've seen, so what specifically was mentioned about islanders as you say?

The only thing that can REALLY ruin the island is if you allow people to leave and return to the island allowing an unfair advantage in grinding.

I don't play on my normal characters anymore because I've lost interest given the current state of the server so I have not explored what this event is. But regarding neutral map areas, such as event maps, other servers have disabled trade and drop to allow islanders to participate because we are part of the community as well.

It is sad if one person's actions affects the entire islander community. Iolzor has grown pretty careless as have many of the other islanders since we haven't been offered any new content in about 2 years? The anniversary event was by far the best event for islanders and the most to look forward to given what was available at the time and that such few people were able to benefit from it. We have a pretty tight community and I as well as @Ezequiell just want to give our friends a reason to come back a play on the server we formed our community.

 

As far as "new content", with regards to events at least we have catered to islanders specifically for Halloween and christmas. I remember *specifically* making a Christmas themed Amherst and trying to routinely spawn the Rudi NPC so the Islanders could still decorate a tree. We had weapons dropping from mobs, which allowed Islanders to collect them as well. Such as maplemas lights, versalmas cactus.
With Halloween, candy dropped on the island too and you were able to exchange it with the NPC.
I wasn't around for the valentines or easter event, so I have no comments on that, however to say there has been "no content for 2 years" is to basically say we haven't tried to do anything, when we have.

 

We've already had those events twice is what I was trying to say. But everything was easily grind able the first time around which made it pretty useless for old islanders the second time around. Those events were pretty useless for myself given that the only content were weapons which come no where close to outclassing the maple umbrella held in the event previous to them.

 

So it boils down to:
- Nothing we've done is good enough for you
- You want items to make you more powerful, which defeats the purpose of the island.
- You want everything new even though events for mainland repeat items as well. Even in THIS event, today, items from last year are in the exchange and are the same thing. The only thing that's been added that's new is the other style of maple bandanas (so both the folded and cap-style are available) and some chairs.

To be flat out honest and blunt, you're coming across as incredibly ungrateful and spoiled, and it makes us not want to even try to go out of our way and think of how islanders could fairly be included in events now. I'm usually trying to help think of how to include islanders in events, but this kind of attitude? Makes me not want to at all.

Im only doing this right now to benefit other islanders. I currently have more than enough cosmetic items considering I've donated nearly $900 to your server. You didn't have a anniversary last year and during the first one very few islanders were active back then which pretty much only includes @Chokladkakan , @Lightz , Gi , and myself. The people who actively enjoy playing an islander have left your server because the way they feel treated towards the staff. If you don't want to host anything for islanders then say it so they can spend their time on a server that will.

 

In my honest opinion, its not really hard to make any event also work for the islanders, maybe some, but the majority is really easy to do, just move an npc, change some prices.

The candles are etc drops from a mob, ez as hell to islanders, we can only grind after all.

But really, i would love to get an maple umbrella.

Anyway, the final decision is from the staff.

 

The heck is this non-sense. You CHOOSE to stay on the island to smack mushrooms and hang around without skills and the rest of the world. It's the freaking tutorial grounds, and is supposed to be a stepping stone to the rest of the game. Just because you have built a very small community around doesn't change that fact.

Islanders are setting their own restrictions, and yet are asking for special additions??

Same as for me, I reached lvl 151 on my NL, even tried going different classes and it all summed in one thing, the loss of interests.
I'd like to point out that already at level 20 you can one shot the pigs and mushrooms on the island so bringing the anniversary to the island will only be a way to decorate ourselves and to look more "fancy" , some people just had enough from the off-island stuff, why does that mean that the whole server has to go against us? We love the game as much as the rest of the players here, we spend hours on hours in-game in communicating with people, just as off-islanders , we grind and level up , just as the other off-islanders.
We don't ask to go FM, which is obvious why, we don't need it.
We simply as for the opportunity to participate in the 3rd anniversary,not more than that.

 

I have an islander character & I agree wholeheartedly with this.

 

This thread was suppose to be a discussion on what is this "OP"ness that enables us to participate in certain events. This thread has gone off topic pretty much since Iolzor's comment considering this wasn't suppose to be a thread directly about receiving the anniversary event or not. Do what you want with it.
