Hi everyone! I would first like to start off with how much I am enjoying this server! It is bringing back some serious memories! What I wanted to talk about today is the equipment that we have access to in game. It seems that the equips in Nexon's Maplestory have been updated and that only the main AP (i.e. LUK, STR, etc.) is needed to wear an item. For example, instead of needing DEX and LUK for a Theif equip, it looks like they only need LUK. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed that? If they have, do we know if something will be done about it?
The edition (removal) of secondary stat requirements in GMS is something that will most likely not take place in Royals. Pre-BB MapleStory required secondary stats for the equipment of certain items, which led to the different build types such as dexless sins, strless bowmen, etc. While these builds are viable for some classes early to mid-game (particularly non-mage classes), the vast majority of players here aim for equipment that allows for higher potential total weapon attack. These items tend to have high secondary stat requirements (e.g. dex for NLs), so a large part of the gear-making process comes from trying to scroll equips to minimize the amount of base AP points placed into your secondary stat. If Royals were to update its equip requirements to that of GMS with no secondary stat considerations, then much of the work/scrolling done would be rendered pretty much useless. Though most mages use a lukless build, a somewhat related discussion has occurred regarding Elemental Wands. Pre-BB Elemental Wands were designed to amplify the damage of correctly corresponding elemental attacks (e.g. Elemental Wand 7 amplifying ice-based moves and Ele Wand 5 amplifying fire-based moves) and reduce the damage of incorrectly corresponding elemental attacks (e.g. Ele Wand 7 would decrease damage output of F/P mages and Bishops). In a discussion on nerfing Elemental Wands for bishops, as they currently do not reduce Genesis damage, the overall consensus was that because bishops have spent a lot of time/effort into funding a well-scrolled Ele Wand, nerfing them so late into the server's lifetime would be a big slap to the face.
