Extalia MS server was officially shutdown today

Maybe we will be seeing a lot of new players into the Maple Royals community?
At least according to the Gtop100 website, they get 7k+ votes per day.

Was this expected or something out of the blue?

Damn now this is sad i spent a lot of time there before they added the potential system -_- i hope this wont hit royals any time soon

 

Omg that was one of my first pservers that was not v83 or older i'll miss it, it has a special spot in my heart

Was it because Extalia was so GMS-like, and was in some ways, in direct competition with GMS? Or was it just that it was the most populous, so Nexon got wind of it first?

 

Most likely due to them using their copyrighted product, for then to allow people to spend cash there, allowing them to continue breaching copyright laws.

So it was most likely because the people running the server were earning revenue (not just receiving donations)?

 

More about them using their product illegally, and probably because it was near anf could "compete" with GMS.

 

Copyrighted material for resale is just like bootlegged movies and is considered piracy. They kept using the latest material that Nexon is constantly putting copyrights on before release. But their size and attention didn't help them either.

 

Can Royals be shut down for the same? Or do you reckon they won't be bothered with old version servers?

 

It's not impossible but it's not likely - the point of royals is using old materials, and as such it doesn't really compete with Nexon anymore - so even though it's not the most legal they probably won't care.

 

There's always a possibility, and I think the admins are aware of this. We do have constant wz updates. However I doubt they will put as much effort to it compared to updated populated servers.
As long as the owners don't fuck up we'll be alright.

Holy s. Nexon did it, they are hunting down private servers once again.

 

Nexon tends to go for the newer servers.
Seeing as Royals is using v62 and is internationally operated, I'd think Nexon would tend to think about the issues of international lawsuits and out of rev game content.

 

I pity those who joined Extalia recently, only to find that it has shut down.

 

This can also have negative effects like the RMTers from Extalia coming over here to do RMT

Of course this will put the server in the spotlight and give it more attention, but there are always bad apples amongst the bunch

Gotta start monitoring the fm for large sales of arrows tbh

 

I played extalia for about 3 years and took a break and kinda sad that it got deleted, but i feel bad for ppl who donated in there... only to get it all gone.
