Notice Extension of Christmas Events

Hi all!

We will be extending the Christmas Events (Snowblower, Christmas Maps, festive drops from low level monsters, collecting Stars of Maplemas Spirit and Nevermelting Snow, being able to exchange Stars of Maplemas Spirit for items from Maple Claws, Versal Pigs spawning and dropping festive feast items) until:

Sunday January 18th at midnight server time

Also, for those who have been doing the Mom and Dad quest regularly but have still failed to get the Orb of Versalmas Cheer on their character, we will shortly be adding an option to get the Orb of Versalmas Cheer on your character if you have done the Mom and Dad festive feast quest 25 times or more without managing to get the Orb.

I'd also like to explain the twofold reason for the Orb of Versalmas Cheer being untradeable in the first place:

1. The Orb of Versalmas Cheer is an untradeable item anyway - we didn't change it to make it untradeable. We could have created a totally new item as the rarest quest piece, but this patch was already heavy on .wz edits, and out of consideration for those with monthly bandwidth limits, we felt it best not to add in any .wz edits that weren't really needed to either fix broken items or be part of the festive atmosphere. Should anyone be curious, this is also the reasoning behind the rather bizarre festive feast. Most of the Christmas Dinner foody items in the data had already been used for the Thanksgiving event, and there really weren't a lot of "Christmas" type foods left in the data to choose from. This is when I decided that maybe Mom and Dad could have a number of guests from different parts of the Maple world coming over for their festive feast and would need to have food in to cater for all their guests. =)
2. The Pilgrim Hat from the Thanksgiving event was waaaay too easy to obtain - people were able to buy the D Piece as early as the first day of the event to gain the hat. Much though it was nice to be able to get your hat relatively easily and to make a nice little profit out of selling D Pieces, it was too easy for players with a reasonable amount of mesos just to "buy" their hats and barely participate in the event at all. Having the rarest event piece untradeable meant that people had to actually participate regularly in the event to get the reward of their choice, unless they got extremely lucky, and it put both the reasonably wealthy and the poor-as-dirt on a level playing field for this event. However... it wouldn't be fair to let people who've done the event every day be left without a reward at the end, hence the forthcoming change to that event.

Is this for the account in its entirety, or only for one single character doing it 25 times or more? I was unable to play most of the Christmas Event

It actually tells you when you can help again, not how many you've done it.

 

As of the last SC yes it does tell you how many times you've done it.

The hilarious thing is, after checking I FINALLY got my orb..................... lol
