I cannot seem to make gifs work. I have tried to upload different gifs with many sizes and frames but they all seem to only work on profile pages and appear as images on posts This is the gif i want to upload on my profile: Note: this one is the original, i had to crop it to 200x200 for the gif to at least work in profile page, but still an image otherwise
Could you please visit https://royals.ms/forum/account/avatar and try from there? That should hopefully reveal to you possible error messages, which I would like to see.
Ok i tried with both the original and resized version but nothing showed from my side (It uploads and sends me to Personal details, if thats ok). Should i be looking at anything specific? Again the resized gif does work but only in the account page Edit: is there a limit to the amount of frames? I noticed this gif uses 11 to 17 frames.
That's helpful, thanks, and I think I know what goes awry: it's the aspect ratio. The image is so far from square that, when processing, our imaging software crops it quite a lot for the small image at the side of your posts. This cropping does not retain all frames of the .gif! So, could you please try making the image square before uploading, and see if that works?
I've done a few tests myself to see if I could get his .gif to work, but nothing works for me either. Things I've tried: 1. Resizing to 297x297. (Nothing worked) 2. Resizing to 200x200. (Nothing worked) 3. Resizing to 100x100. (Profile Page only) 4. Resizing to 70x70. (Profile Page only) 5. Resizing to 70x70 and reducing to 3 frames. (Profile Page only) 6. Resizing to 100x100 and reducing to 8 colors. (Profile Page only) From the tests above, it seems that (image or file) size and aspect ratio affects the animation on the profile page, but as for everywhere else, it's still a mystery. Out of my own curiosity, I tried to download multiple forum conversions of both @Eli and @Dakker's avatar, renamed to .gif because for some reason it's saved as a .jpg and won't let you re-upload without the correct file type, and set it as my own, but even that wouldn't allow me to view my own avatar as animated outside of the profile page. Hope this info helps though. o.o
After redeucing the size once more and cropping for it to be square: Reducing it to 200x200 made it so the gif became static even in the profile page Reducing it once more to 150x150 did make the gif work,but only in the profile page Reducing it to 100x100 had the same effects as reducing it to 150x150
I changed something around. Please try again, regardless of image aspect ratio. It is still a .gif; the filename has nothing to do with what type of file it actually is.
It seems gifs are broken once again, can only get it to work when I make it smaller than 200x200 and it only shows on my profile ;_;
