Forum Suggestion [DEBATE] Section

Since I noticed many people are in to debating, and interested in certain subjects, I'd like to suggest a section specifically for debating.

I do not feel there is a need for a dedicated debate board on the forums. Couldn't the debate threads be posted in General Discussion?

While you do have a good point there, it's still quite a hard job to control. There will be some serious debates going on, obviously, but the amount of e.g. trolls and flamers will be very high, which will, in the end, only cause more trouble. That's one of the main reasons why we decided against such a forum section.

 

I think the current people who moderate the forums would not appreciate having the additional responsibility required for a debate forum. As we said, there is a General Discussion board where debates can be held.

 

The idea of a debate section does sound nice, but if it's not moderated properly everything can easily go to crap. As much as I like the idea, I don't want to add to the heavy workload that the staff already has. )=

 

I'm with John on this one - we've got two general discussion forums, one for Maple Royals and one for whatever else, which are both fine places for any debates you want to have.

My concern with having a specific "Debate" section is that a fair few people are going to happily interpret that as "Yay, fight!" or "Troll here for teh lulz lel".
