Solved [Solution Given] Game Won't Load/Start

    Big fan of MS right around/before BB. Found this place, really want to play again. However, my computer is making this whole thing a pain.

    1. Windows 10
    2. No Problem Downloading or Installing
    3. Webroot has the exceptions needed (I think?) (I've allowed the files it tried to block and restored the files it tried to quarantine on first run through)
    4. Defender Virus stuff is off, App is allowed through Firewall
    5. Tried restarting
    6. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling
    7. Tried restarting after this
    8. Compatibility is set to Windows 7. Tried windows 98/Me one, didn't work either.
    Edit: 9. Tried that dinput folder thing. Didn't work.

    I double click on my desktop icon, I get the "Do you want this app to make changes to your computer", I press "yes" and then nothing... Which is better than when I first started where it didn't do diddly squat.

    I'm not computer/tech savvy by any means, just been reading other people's threads that were having issues. I probably missed something technical or in depth with the virus or defender so please give me some help!

    Does your MapleRoyals folder have the 2 exe?

    MapleRoyals.exe
    MapleRoyalsFullScreen.exe

    If have either, launch it

    I have tried launching from both .exe files. Does the same thing. Asks if I want the changes made, I click "yes", and then nothing

    Currently don't see any issues that doesn't allow Royals to run

    Thinking is it your anti virus or Windows defender real time scanning stopping it

    Heading to work currently, only able to use TeamViewer to check your PC after work

    Okay so I turned off Webroot entirely and it RAN. THAT START UP MUSIC OH MY ACHING HEART

    So now to figure out what webroot is blocking so I can play.

    Probably is their real time scanning then

    Never heard of this anti virus though

    We really like webroot here. It's not given us any trouble (unlike Norton) until now. It is their realtime scanning, and I turn it off, load up the game, and then turn it on again and it runs fine so no idea. But I'm just basking in the music of the character selection screen right now lol

    edit: it just booted me so I guess when I play I'll have to have it off.

    Think you have to check whether webroot able to add MapleRoyals as exclusion and not keep detecting it at real-time scanning

    I don't think there's any way to do that after the research I've done sadly. I've "allowed" all the .exe files but nothing seems to let it through unless I turn off the realtime shield. Even the active processes are allowed. I may try to call webroot's customer service tomorrow and see what they can tell me.

    Just get rid of Webroot. It's a useless program and just slows your computer down. It's classified by most IT professionals as a virus itself as it can't be normally uninstalled but needs a specific tool to completely remove it. Oh and Best Buy owns the software so every one they sell is 100% profit.

    That's a bold statement. We've never had a problem until now with Webroot, and all our computers run faster and work better than when we had AVG. Do you have any suggestions on what to replace it with since it's supposedly so bad?
