I'm making this feedback on behalf my sister, @Tako Yuet who was just forum banned awhile ago by @Matt for making a post in Get it off your chest.

    IMG-20201209-WA0002.jpg

As per the thread rules, Tako didn't mention any names, reply to any specific posts, or harass other members about what they posted. As far as I'm aware, people post shits all the time in the thread and I don't see anyone being banned for it, and @Tako Yuet 's post was very general so it could apply to anyone.

So can I clarify with Staff on:
    1) Why is @Tako Yuet given warning points for reasons that she didn't commit? Why did Matt go out of his way to ban her just for that when there are other people who have posted on the thread with more suggestive and potentially hurtful things?

    2) What can and cannot be done in that thread? Because there seems to be some double standards going on here.

Excessively rude, offensive, hurtful or otherwise negative comments in a thread
    - Tako didn't make any excessive rude, offensive, hurtful or otherwise negative comments. Perhaps we should notify the editors of Oxford English dictionary that the word "excessive" should be redefined?

Excessive spamming or flooding of a thread with unnecessary content
    - Tako didn't spam or flood the thread.

Excessive cursing or the use of highly inappropriate language in any language with the exception of if a particular word is the topic of discussion approved by a moderator
    - Again, no "excessive" cursing or use of highly inappropriate language. Unless you consider the word "blind" and the statement "sitting on his face" to be highly inappropriate? If so, can Staff clarify why it's considered highly inappropriate?

Circumventing the slur filter intended to block highly inappropriate language from being used with the exception of if a particular word is the topic of discussion approved by a moderator Inciting or provoking other players with negative content in the nature of beginning a destructive argument (flame wars)
    - Tako didn't circumvent any slur filter, nor did she provoke any players with the intention of starting a flame war.

To add on what OP said, does GIOYC need a revision of its rules? And how can it be improved?

The post was not 'very general', it was directed at me, and so breaks the thread rules of stating who the message was aimed towards. Additionally it would fall under 'Excessively rude, offensive, hurtful, or otherwise negative comments in a thread'. Those are reasons for it's removal and warning points given.

Is the word "owner" banned in MapleRoyals now? And I think the part on "excessive" is debatable. What do you think?

Edit: For better clarity, I don't necessary mean the word is banned, but more of whether should players be more caution when they mention the word "owner" in MapleRoyals, both in-game and on the forums? Because it can literally be taken out of context, like in this case. i.e. owner can mean literally anyone. Owner of a house, a car, a dog, heck, even another server.

Edit 2: I've reviewed Tako's message again. As far as I know, she play other servers as well. It is entirely plausible that she could be ranting about her unhappiness of other servers. Do you agree with this sentiment?

Because the recent posts in the thread are obviously dancing around a particular topic relating to a ban that occurred, and just not directed at anyone directly until that last message. If it wasn't aimed at me, or if they were confused about the infraction; they could have let me know in the infraction conversation, but the only reply received was 'no regrets lmfao'.

I would probably put it under offensive, or otherwise negative comments, probably not excessively rude. Nonetheless it broke the thread rules and so also a forum rule since it was so obviously specified in the post.

I would advise that if players have an issue with the handling of a particular ban or person in particular that they make a constructive thread or start a conversation with that person about the matter. People should not be using the using the get it off your chest thread as a guise to be able to publicly talk bad about others knowing there'll be no consequences simply because of not stating who it was directed towards. You don't need to be a genius to know who certain posts are aimed at, and it's simply just toxic behaviour.

I disagree. You are acting under the presumption that the post is directed to you, when it could've very well be referring to someone else. I implore you to read what I wrote in my edits.

The whole idea of GIOYC is to allow players to vent their frustration. Have you ever considered why people chose to vent rather than speaking directly to that person? Maybe it's because they know nothing good will result from it. I pose this as an open question to you. Do give it some thoughts.

Again, we have to act with concrete evidence. Even in Staff, when we want to ban an obvious hacker (i.e. you don't need to be a genius to figure out that the player is a hacker, e.g. by its weird IGN, weird outfit, training in isolated maps), we have to make sure evidence is collected. In this case, where's your evidence that Tako is referring to you? Please clarify.

Edit: Also, to reiterate my point from earlier -- does GIOYC need a revision of its rules? And how can it be improved? Do players have "free speech" in that particular thread to vent about literally anyone and anything they want to, without being subjected to being issued warning points because specific Staff thinks that it's referring to them? How about all the other more suggestive and hurtful posts? Why is nothing done?

It's also kinda ironic to get banned through GIYOC when that the point of the thread is to release our negativity to feel better. We rant about what we feel, it's not always the best emotion and we can unintentionally say too much but that is why we release them to feel better afterward. So what are we gonna do now? Sugarcoat and think carefully with our wordings from now on with that thread because our emotions can make us write too much and can get us banned? Being afraid or cautious with what you write on the thread kinda takes away the purpose of it.

I'm curious about which word specifically make it ban worthy? Blind? Not seeing the problem? Or sitting on his face? Cant believe if someday I answered someone else questions with some "keyword" above and I'm charged with EXCESSIVELY rude or offensive.

    Eg:
Q: oh wheres the npc..... ?
    A: is at .....
    Q: where? I don't see it?
A: " as what tako said"

    Ban?

Now, that's bad and there's an obvious real concern that needs to be addressed by Staff. We need better clarity on what we can or cannot say in the thread. Are we subjected to punishment if we accidentally break thread rules? Since when thread rules is enforceable by warning points (unless the thread is created for offical purposes like events)?

I don't see the rule of GIOYC stating "anyone who break these rules may be subjected to WP at staff's discretion". So I'm expecting a clarification from Staff.

I mean, I only gave those warning points because the rules of the thread weren't followed (you're not allowed to reply to others), which does warrant 5 points. If I'm wrong in this case, due to it being in the off-topic section, let me know and I can revert the points. The posts are still staying deleted though.

Thank you for making a statement. Let's have a discussion.

    For 5wp, it states
    • Failure to comply with specific subforum rules as outlined in their own locations

Can I clarify whether "subforum rules" refer to rules in each individual subsection AND individual thread, or rule for the entire subsection?

Edit: I believe forum rules should be enforced throughout the entire forum. But this should be clearly stated in the rules as well (if it isn't already).

    Sorry for the confusions caused

I was removing the quote so your reply may stay on the thread while not breaking the thread rules, while Shane was issuing the WP at the same time, hence the misleading look

Please also take note of not replying to the posts at that thread in the future

I've just reported this post in "Get it off your chest" under the same clause "rules of the thread are not being followed" and I am expecting it will be deleted with 5 warning points given to Becca as is the case with Sharon's post.

Obviously I am being very selective with the thread rule-breaking shenanigans here but we seem to be all doing the same thing, so who's to say I have an unrealistic expectation of how forum rules and regulations are implemented?

In this post^ you can clearly see she was referring to someone.
You could've deleted the quote and go on. No one ever mentioned any penalties for GIOYC posts.

Well, I guess that's on me. Didn't read the bullet point clearly enough I guess. I'll be reverting the points given on the two users I deleted posts from. Apologies for the inconveniences caused.
