    It doesn't say in the item description that Golden Pigs can't wear this hat. In fact, I used to have one for my Golden Pig in GMS. He was adorable and his name was Terrance. Anyways, it says "The pet is unable to wear the equipment."

    It's a known bug since this patch that certain pet equips can currently not be equipped by any pets, this will be fixed soon.
