It doesn't look like I'll ever get around to actually making this into a guide, so I'll just give people the information, and if anyone wants to make it prettier, and explain it in greater detail, absolutely feel free to do so. You don't need to credit me or anything.
If you are interested in making this into a Complete HP Washing Guide, please let me know. I can help answer questions about anything. These notes were hastily thrown together to be slightly readable, so I'd be surprised if someone was able to actually throw together a guide using just this and my HP Washing for New Players guide. Please pick my brain!
MapleRoyals is in desperate need of a Complete HP Washing Guide that is accurate and relevant. As of now, we just have multiple confusing guides with little information in different areas of washing. I wish I had the time to do it, but I'd be eternally grateful if someone could take on this task.

    Terms To Know:

    • LevelUpAP: Fresh AP that is gained from a level up. You only get 5 of these per level up.
    • APResetAP: AP that is gained by using an AP Reset. (The HP Gains from LevelUpAP and APResetAP are different).
    • HP Washing: The physical process of converting MaxMP into MaxHP. It is always widely used as the name of the entire Washing process. In this guide, I will refer to the entire process of Washing as "HP Washing", in order to comply with community standards.
    • MP Washing: The process of using AP Resets to turn MaxMP into more MaxMP.
    • Double Washing: A silly, unecessary term that confuses people. It just means that you are HP Washing and MP Washing during the same level up. It's recommended that you remove this term from your brain space.
    • EquipINT: INT that is attached to your character by wearing equipment with INT bonuses.
    • RawINT: INT that cannot be removed. AKA: AP INT

    What is HP Washing?

HP Washing, or Washing, is the entire process of accumulating Excess MaxMP and converting it into Excess MaxHP.
In order to accumulate Excess MaxMP, a character will either add Raw AP into INT, or wear equips with INT bonuses, while leveling up. Characters that need a great deal of MP can utilize MP Washing, a game mechanic that uses AP Resets to amass large amounts of MP.
In order to convert Excess MaxMP into Excess MaxHP, a character must HP Wash using AP Resets, following the steps of either the Standard Method, or the Thief Method.
Once the character has reached their HP Washing Goal, they may use AP Resets to remove any Raw INT they have allocated.

    Should You HP Wash?

The only classes that NEED to HP Wash are:

    • Assassins
    • Archers: Bowmen and XBowmen
    • Gunslingers
    • Spearmen
It is also recommended to wash Fighters and Pages because they are very cheap to wash, but it is unnecessary. Brawlers and Bandits can also be washed, but they are expensive to wash, and it is unnecessary to wash them, as well. Mages can wash, as well, but any extra HP or MP does little to help them, so 99.9% of mages do not wash.

How Much Should You HP Wash?

How Much Does HP Washing Cost?

    This depends upon your goals.

If your goal is to hit 9k HP, these are the approximate total prices you'll be looking at:

    Assassin: 3.5-5b
    Archer: 4.5-6b
    Gunslinger: 4.5-6b
    Spearman: 1b

If your goal is to hit 5.6k HP, you approximate totals will be more around the 100m-500m range.

    Calculations:

    1. Decide your HP goal:

Refer to the linked quote up above to decide how much HP you will want

    2. Calculate HPneeded:
Calculate what your natural HP will be at your target level using these formulas:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Natural HP Formulas: (Only work after 2nd Job)

    Thief: [{(#JobAdv-1)*325 + Level*22} + 118.5]
    Archer: [{(#JobAdv-1)*325 + Level*22} + 118.5]
    Gunslinger: [{(#JobAdv-1)*325 + Level*25} + 88.5]
    Brawler: [{(#JobAdv-1)*325 + Level*55} - 211.5]
    Spearman: [{(#JobAdv-2)*325 + Level*66} - 399]
    Fighter: [{(#JobAdv-1)*325 + Level*66} - 399]
    Page: [{(#JobAdv-2)*325 + Level*66} - 399]
    Magician: [{Level*12} + 52]
    Beginner: [{Level*14} + 36]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then subtract (HPgoal - NaturalHP) to find your HPneeded.

    3. Calculate Number of HP Washes:
HPneeded / ClassHPWashGain = # of HP Washes

    ClassHPWashGain:
    ----------------------
    Beginner: 10
    Warrior: 52.5
    Thief: 22
    Bowman: 18
    Magician: 15
    Gunslinger: 20
    Brawler: 40
    ----------------------

    4. Calculate TotalMPneeded:
    #HPWashes * MPCost = TotalMPneeded

    Class MPCost for Washing Table:
    -------------------------------------
    Beginner: -8 MP
    Warrior: -4 MP
    Thief: -12 MP
    Bowman: -12 MP
    Magician: -90 MP
    Gunslinger: -16 MP
    Brawler: -16 MP
    ---------------------------------------

    5. Calculate How Much INT You Need:
TotalMPneeded / LevelUps = INTneeded (Acquire through Equips or Raw INT)

LevelUps = How many more levels until your reach your goal level
Should You MP Wash? Yes, if more than 100 Raw INT needed (General Rule of Thumb)
    6. Calculate # of Levels For HP Washing
Only For Thieves. Thieves can only wash 5 times per level, total. So take (Total Number of Washes / 5)

If you need to MP Wash:

    7. Subtract INT Equip Gains:
    EquipINT/10 * Level = EquipMPGains
    TotalMPneeded - EquipMPGains = MPneeded

    8. OptimalINT Formula:
    OptimalINT = [ 10sqrt(MPneeded/11) ] + 10
    or + 50 for Pirates

    9. Calculate Number of MP Washes:
    [MPneeded - LevelGains*INT + (RawINT/10)(RawINT/10)] / [(RawINT/10) - 1]
    or -5 for Pirates

    10. Calculate Number of Levels for MP Washing:
    MP Washes / 5

    11. When Should You Start HP Washing and MP Washing?
Thieves: Take into account # of levels for HP Washing and MP Washing
All Other Classes: Only take into account # of levels for MP Washing

    Class Specific Spoilers
Thief: Use Thief HP Washing Method. Account for HP Washing LevelUps
Archer: Can use LevelUpAP Method or APResetAP Method
Pirate: MP Washing costs 50 extra INT.
    Spearmen: Berzerk
    Page and Hero: Cheap
    Mage: gtfo

Any values with a "???" were never physically tested, so they are just assumptions, though they are pretty safe assumptions.
And values without a "???" were tested and validated by either myself or someone helping me gather data. Most results were confirmed by multiple sources. These numbers do not follow any MapleStory source code that I have seen thus far, but they are accurate.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MP/HP Ratios (MPCost of AP Reset/HPGain from AP Reset):

    Thief: 0.55

    Archer: 0.67

    Gunslinger: 0.8
    Brawler: 0.4

    Warrior: 0.08

    Magician: 6.0

    Beginner: 0.8

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using LevelUpAP vs. APResetAP HP Gains

    Beginner: / 8~12 /// 8~12 HP //// -8 MP
    Warrior: // 50~54 // 50~55 HP /// -4 MP
    Thief: //// 20~24 // 16~20 HP /// -12 MP
    Bowman: /// 16~20 // 16~20 HP /// -12 MP
    Magician: / 6~10 /// 10~20 HP /// -90 MP
    Gunslinger: 16~20 // 20 HP ////// -16 MP
    Brawler: // 36~40 // 40 HP ////// -16 MP

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    MP Gained From LevelUpAP:

    Beginner: 6-8 /////////////////////// -8
    Warrior: 2-4 //////////////////////// -4
    Magician: 18-20 + ImprovingMaxMP //// -90 -20 (+ImprovingMaxMP = 90?)
    Bowman: 10-12 /////////////////////// -12
    Thief: 10-12 //////////////////////// -12
    Pirate: 10-12 /////////////////////// -16

*All have a ~1 deficit, besides Pirates. Pirates have a ~5 deficit*

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ************************************
    OptimalINT = 10sqrt(MPneeded/11)
    ************************************

Add 10 INT to every class to compensate for the deficit mentioned above.
Add 50 INT to Pirates to compensate for the deficit mentioned above.

This applies no matter how many levels you spread the INT build up over.

Hi, I'm trying to calculate for a new bowmaster, but the end results seem unreal.

    Bowmaster:
    Target level: 130
    Natural HP = 3953.5
    HP Required: 9000 - 3953.5 = 5046.5
    # of HP washes: 5046.5 / 18 = 280.36.1
    Total MP Needed: 281 * 12 = 3372
    INT Needed: 3372 / 130 = 25.9

So I only need to wear 25.9 int every level up until 130 and I'll have 9k HP?? (If I wash every level)
    Similarly, if I start washing at level 30, I only need 3372 / 100 = 33.72 int in equips??

And I won't have to add any raw INT from the beginning with this approach?

Thanks for the "guide" though, I finally understand the mechanics!

33MP and not INT, so 330 INT!

The issue is, where it says "INT Needed", is somewhat misleading. When you divide MP needed by the number of level ups, you don't get INT needed, you get extra MP per level up. So to get INT needed, multiply that value by 10 to get the amount of INT you need to have at each level up.

So if my INT Needed is like around 200, would adding INT as I level have the same affect as the INT worn?

I.e. If I'm a level 10 bowman, and I have just 25 DEX for the job advancement and put the rest into INT, (so 4 STR, 25 DEX, 29 INT, 4 LUK), the extra MP formula still applies? (I'll get +2 Extra MP just from these stats?)
