Have you ever tried the post-bb universe or are you ignorant about it?

With pre-bb players and community definitely unaware of whats going on on the official maplestory servers by Nexon, I was wondering, if you ever tried to actually play post-bb and did you like parts of it, or was it so terrible you gave up after a few hours, or so.

I actually stepped into it and tried a few classes. I didnt like the cubes, potential, 50 + classees and many weird and strange changes and features to the game. Its very non-classic, as they say, not nostalgic at all, and way too complicated gameplay overall. We all know very well why post-bb sucks, so I dont need to explain alot. But I'm curious to know what you think about post-bb, if you tried it, and are you ignorant when it comes to whats going on on there or not. For example, did you know they're adding 6th job soon? I cant believe this crap. I thought when they released 5th job that was the biggest crap I ever seen, but an even bigger crap is coming.

Havent tried that one. I tried however Mercedes, Luminous, Blaster, Mechanic, and, angelic buster if I remember correctly.

I mean its fun to an extent, but very non nostalgic. I liked how the game was simpler, pre-bb. I'd appreciate more classes maybe, while still keeping pre-bb universe the same as it is. I guess MapleRoyals wouldnt get more classes though.

I think you're focusing too much on nostalgia as for why it post-bb Maplestory isn't a good game. For players who've never played pre-bb, the nostalgia factor isn't really as important. There could be a number of different reasons for why the game post-bb isn't as fun as pre-bb, but nostalgia is really dependent on the person.

After I hit 200 on my dark knight pre-bb I had plans to focus on upgrading (despite the fact that I was in the top 10 strongest in GMS from 2009-210) but then cubes, enhancements, and the big bang happened which made all of my effort go to waste. I took a few years off, but then decided to come back again in 2014 and grind to 250. 5th job wasn't out at the time, and it got to the point where I was getting less than 1% per hour (grinding as efficiently as possible) and I was actually starting to enjoy Maple again, to some extent. I then reached level 250 in 2017, then felt burnt out so I wanted to play a bit more casually for a couple of months before going back at it 100% to finish upgrades. Then they announced even more upgrades, another level cap increase, and a bunch of other crap that made all of my efforts from 2014-2017 feel worthless again. That's when I quit GMS for good and started playing Royals, since I was sick of always losing my progress. Nexon did the same thing with MS2 as well, which I played from beta until the day it shut down.

Power creep, when poorly implemented, causes hardcore players to become disillusioned and quit. I really like that Royals took a firm stand on never implementing cubes, enhancements, hammers, or anything beyond that. Even with the content that's in the game now, there will always be something to do. Unless you have one of every class at 200 with perfect gear, which would take forever, I see no reason why anyone should feel unsatisfied with the amount of content that's in Royals. It's what I wanted from GMS all along, with steady content gradually and carefully being introduced over time, where extra care is taken to ensure that it doesn't break the market or make all of our current gear worthless. With enough tweaking, you could theoretically add just about anything to Royals, including Empress, the Root Abyss bosses, Gollux, Magnus, etc. All you'd have to do is adjust their attacks, lower their HP, and make the appropriate modifications to each boss to compensate for the lack of mobility (no double jump) in order to make them compatible with our pre-bb skills and gear. Obviously the Gollux equips, Root Abyss weapons, and Tyrant gear would have to be significantly modified (to be less than or equal to the current gear) or removed altogether. If better gear does get implemented eventually, it would have to be done the way that MoNs were done, with significant nerfs, and only being a slight upgrade over existing end-game gear. Or like with Auf Haven helms, how it takes a significant amount of time, money, and effort to make it an improvement over the rest of the helms. If it's going to be an upgrade over our current gear, it needs to require a lot of dedication and effort so that it doesn't make the existing meta worthless. This is something that Nexon has always failed to understand, but that Royals does right.
