I'd just like to introduce myself to everyone and perhaps make a few friends, as I hope and plan to become a permanent fixture in the MR community. It's been years since I've played Maplestory, and something of a decade since I was really serious about it. I began my journey shortly before the introduction of Ludibrium, and was immediately hooked since the moment I stepped off of the ship at Lith Harbor. There I was, my very first INT warrior, clueless and ready to take on the world! From then on there would never be another experience like being a complete noob again -- but this server does come close after so many years. I had a good life back in Maple Global. I was an active figure in the Khaini server and the proud leader of Area51, a social-guild that excelled as one of the most fun and sought-after groups in Khaini. We spent a lot of time clearing the rubbish (hackers, ks-ers, scammers) from our beloved server and helping newbies with guidance and events (item/meso drops in Henesys, so forth). Despite our altruism, we did enjoy a good summons at Lith Harbor/Kerning PQ every now and again -- watching the newbies scatter or try to fight the mobs -- but it was all in good fun, and even made us some friends along the way. I sure do miss those guys. Is anybody out there? Anyway, I came back to GlobalMS recently to see how it's "progressed", and I felt like I needed a Ritalin with all the new drops and flashy content. I had to create a new character because my old account was apparently deactivated for inactivity and as I no longer had access to that email, it was as good as dead. RIP, re-roll. It took me something like 10 hours to figure out which class to choose before settling on a Mage, my inventory was full by my first job advancement, I leveled so fast it felt like cheating, and the cash shop had clearly become a lot more essential to 'winning'. I could go on, but I won't. I just couldn't dig it. Then I found MapleRoyals a few days ago and decided to give it a try, not really sure what to expect. Despite the bugged quests that nag at my completionist mentality, this server exceeds the new GlobalMS in every aspect of quality. I have since rediscovered my love for this game, and the server-exclusive customization only adds to the FUN. I will definitely be donating in the future, because this place deserves it. My nostalgia has been reignited, but the problem is I lack friends. I've met a couple buddies along the way, and strangers have been exceptionally kind -- but I'd really like to expand and find some others to do quests and pass the grind with, whether in parties or just socially across chat. As of right now I play a few different characters to break the monotony, but my main is a level 38 Cleric named "Timelord" (my old main was a level 122 F/P mage). This. And any games that include micro transactions or pay2win... It just ruins the game. I've seen it happen so many times. These companies are just so greedy =/ Welcome to the server. I used to hack Khaini in 2006 on my Crusader. RIP AAPhoxIll.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome -- the community here seems much more encouraging than GMS was as a whole. Nice to also see some fellow Khainians in the mix. I've already met one since posting this message, and hope to find more of you! Matt, your name actually looks kinda familiar, but after a near-decade it's difficult to say for sure. Sorry if I reported you though, haha -- new beginnings, right? Ducel, thank you kindly for the offer, I will definitely add you. Even if you're not so active anymore, no biggie, it's just nice to know people. Everybody I've met so far in this game has been the example of why this server is a success, and I hope to see more of you as I progress in the higher level content once more. Thanks for being great.
