Hello Everyone! I've started my first slightly funded character, and it is an archer! I have continually said that I would make an Xbowman because of its rarity as a class. However, I've been doing a lot of reading, and it seems that Hunter is a smarter/easier way to go. Additionally, I personally think that, while some of the Sniper/Marksman skills look cool, I might actually appreciate the hunter skills more! Any advice / discussion on the two classes, and why I might choose one over the other? One saving grace I've heard for Xbowman is that they plan to receive a buff in the upcoming new source... but I have no idea what that truly means for the class overall. Much appreciated!
I find Hurricane so appealing because of how unique it is (not counting Corsair's Rapid Fire). Idk if I'll actually enjoy it though, my archer is only level 20.
The buff for Marksman isn't very substantial, but improves a bit. They doesn't rise in DPS ranks. I'd choose a Bowmaster over a Marksman because they have a higher DPS and if your looking to perfect your equips, it's not going to cost much more than a Marksman. One big issue I have with Marksman is the fact that Strafe can be a big issue for Anego because of the speed. That means you won't be able to solo Anego unless you have over 20k HP. Most of the time, you'll party with an NL and if the NL needs to use Shadow Partner, Anego might waltz over from the corner and slap. Small issue, but a glaring one.
We can come at her from the left without having to jump over or touch, pin it in the middle at the window (gets stuck there because of strafes slow speed) and solo it fine. As for duoing with a NL I'd usually have the NL fj over and take aggro, then push it a bit where I could jump from the barstools over her. You can also use puppet in the corner, have it take aggro, then use arrow eruption on top of the left stool and it will push her over into the left corner where you can pin it solo with strafe/snipe (use puppet to rebuff). You definitely don't need to be able to tank touch damage or the slap damage to solo/duo it fine as a marksman. Having at least 5.6k is preferred because its hard to not take at least a few of the long range hits though.
Almost completely false. High level crossbows can still soft pin Anego to her invisible wall before the bar stool and attack indefinitely, and you can retreat safely and still regain pin without having to worry about mob spawns because of the zones that the mobs in the Parlor map spawn into. As for the issue about duoing with a Night Lord, and a good NL would know what you just said could happen and would Flash Jump back to recast Shadow Partner, leaving you to see if the Anego is aggro'd to you or not; if it isn't, you just run from it and the NL will be able to repin before any of you die. Alternatively, the NL could stutter their Triple Throws before recasting to see if the aggro is following them or not and allowing it to transfer if it is. Is it as easy as a Bowmaster to do Anego? Nope, but it's definitely by no means impossible or even really that hard.
What I did once at Anego with Marksman was that first I aggrod Anego on bishop with gene to run over the stools to the left side and jumped with my Marksman over it. Pinned and kept it the left corner the whole run as solo. Also soloing Anego from right side of the stools keeping it free in the middle isn't that bad either. I'm taking around 20-25mins that way as lv 155 with energizer. Personally I chose MM over BM because of the skill variety. Sure hurricane is fun skill but personally I find MM way more fun
