Like some of the others, I'm also from Extalia. ; -; [rip extalia 2k16] So, I've got a quick question. [Hoping you guys could give me some suggestions] It seems that whenever I do play Maple, I would certainly pick mage. [because tp.. stuff.. long range.. you know..] So right now, I'm hoping you guys could give me some recommendations on what job to pick. I'd like to try something fun and slightly flashy. Hehe. Any suggestions?
Welcome to MR. If you're unfunded, your best bet would be to go with mage as you can pretty much fund yourself quickly by selling leech. Yes, you can spam Genesis/Blizzard/Meteor here. But if you prefer to go the hard way and like bossing, then it boils down to range or melee. Rather straightforward yeah? You only have 5 jobs to choose from. No life training and leeching: Either the 3 mage jobs are fine. Range bosser: People prefer NL, BM, Corsairs from what I can observe. BM is highly in demand for bosses for SE, and people don't really make BM because in order to survive well in bosses you need to be funded enough to HP wash, well you can don't wash, but i guarantee you won't survive the boss run, or if you do, bless you. Melee: People prefer DrK cos they have HB, but I have seen a plenty of Hero as well. So far I've not seen any Paladin.
My only suggestion is to first start off with either an Arch Mage or a Bishop. The reason for this is that they have much more potential for farming and grinding than the other classes. Most people end up creating a priest for their buffs as well. Once you've hit fourth job on a mage, you can start off on an attacker character. Most people play Night Lords and Corsairs for their dps. Keep in mind that certain classes will require you to HP wash more than others in order to fight Horntail later on. If you just want to check out the skills and difficulty of each class, I suggest you read the guides written by other players on the forums! Since you're new, I also recommend the Getting Started guide by Katsuruka because it'll give you an overview of the features MapleRoyals has to offer. http://royals.ms/forum/threads/»-guide-directory-«.29219/
There are a ton of guides that you can read on up about in the "Guides" section, but to answer your question, I started with a DEXless Sin and ended up stopping it because of how important funding is in end-game bossers. Make a bishop, suffer the agony of grinding, and once you finish up the grind, I'll gladly help you with your Genesis pre-quests for HTPQ -- Extalia was indeed a great server, but Royals will bring you challenges of all new lengths! Better be ready, foo'.
