I just had a look at the game, and it felt too good to be true. I was afraid it was going to be another No man's sky kind of hype to have people buying into it. Is it worth the buy?
I'll be buying it this weekend, so I can't really answer your question - but - my entire Playstation friends list appears to be playing it non-stop so I feel that's a pretty good indicator.
Play PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Super fun, I got a key to the beta, but early access on steam is coming soon.
Borrows a lot of gameplay mechanics from games like Far Cry, Witcher 3, Mass Effect, etc., but still feels like a unique game of its own. Combat is incredibly fun, variety of weapons, graphics are probably the best I've seen even though it's only 30 FPS, and the story is actually pretty interesting. Played it over spring break and was very addicting (still working on finishing it). tl;dr: Meets the hype expectation, if not, exceeds it a bit. Worth the buy!
Just coming back here to add: I've had this game for two-ish weeks now and have put in about 60 hours on my save file (some of that is idle time though), to say I'm hooked is an understatement. The combat is extremely fun and engaging, the world is vast enough to be exciting and explorable, but not too overly-large that you have to spend hours walking around from place to place. Graphics are absolutely stellar, the world looks beautiful. Story line is engaging and interesting, the side quests are also pretty fun (i'm a completionist so I've done everything). Worth the buy 100% - better than expected.
