First of all, I fully understand to give permanently ban to the ppl who have received the rp points from donantion and tried to get the money back. However, I saw multiple ban appeals these days that ppl were given auto permanently ban and did nothing wrong, including one of my friends and one of members in the same chat group. They love this server and willing to make the donantion, but it may becasue of its their very first time to use the paypal, they got an auto charge back due to the securitey problem, and they did not receive the rp points, you can just regard it a cancel trade, and they got banned. And thats also the main reason i havent donated yet, i have experienced auto charge back last year when i tried to buy sth in japan, and the risk that be banned for half a month is the cost i would never accept. How could make donation to the server at risk of an auto ban?
Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that a ban system is needed to prevent players from abusing the chargeback function to gain RP without actually donating money to the server. Unfortunately, the other reality of the situation is that Matt is the only person with access to donation processes to prevent any potential security breaches to sensitive information. This means that players may find themselves banned for extended durations despite having done nothing wrong themselves. Especially for players donating from China, I have noticed that their financial institution will occasionally automatically issue a chargeback as they may deem MapleRoyals to be fraudulent. Even when I donate from the U.S. I receive emails from the bank regarding potential suspicious activity within my funds. The best I can guarantee is that all donation chargeback issues eventually do get corrected, as was seen in your examples. And in all my years being here I have never seen a case where a player remained banned despite having properly donated.
The auto ban system cant be adjusted, the respond time cant be shorted and the chargeback cant be avoided, they are all understandable. However, if nothing changed, the problem will be here forever and block lots of people from donation and more people get punishment because of donation. Can we find other ways to change that? Can we have another donation way? Can we accpet other friends to donate for them (now it may lead to rwt or account sharing) or Can we build a respond system that they wont be banned if they make a thread to inform the situation to the gm days early?
