    Hi. I just leveled up to 163 and have 5 fresh AP to spend.I can 1-hit Skeles now so I'm not worried about gaining any more Int/Magic Attack. My immediate goal is to get my bishop ~5.5k HP ASAP for HT, and if possible 7.5k HP and 30k MP by lvl 200.

    Currently:
    Level = 163
    HP = 2215
    MP = 16130
    Fresh AP = 5

    I guess I'm confused on the actual process of HP washing. Do I just start by adding Fresh AP into MP, then AP Resetting MP to HP? Also, do I need to wear STR gear when transferring MP to HP?

    On mage you want to be mp washing. The steps to mp washing are:
    1. Put fresh ap into mp.
    2. Reset ap from mp to int.
    3. Repeat for all fresh ap.
    Note that you get more mp from this method as you have more base int. This is unaffected by gear and by maple warrior. This is your primary source of mp gains as a mage, by 17x you can gain about 500 mp or so per lvl. Mp washing is typically very expensive for non-mages, which is why its not mentioned as much in guides that are targeted towards new players, but since mages already have all their ap in int the additional cost to mp wash is greatly reduced.

    For hp washing on mage, you'll want to do as much hp washing as possible at once due the fixed cost of buying 1st job skill resets.
    1. Reset all points from the 1st job skill Improved MaxMP into any other 1st job skill such as energy bolt. Note: if you're not trying to be super optimal this isn't mandatory, but this reduces the mp lost per apr from 30 to 20.
    2. Make sure you have at least one "real" ap (ie one that could be in int) in mp or hp. Otherwise you won't be able to use the apr on mp/hp.
    3. Reset mp to hp as desired.
    4. Put all sp points from step 1 back into Improved MaxMP.
    Str gear does not affect hp washing or hp gain on level up, and int gear / maple warrior only affects mp gain on level up (which is minor compared to the gains from mp washing).

    ---

    Your other option if you really don't care about tma past 1 hitting skeles is blood washing (not washing using apr but just putting raw ap on level up into hp). People do this on mules alot. This can screw you though if any content is every released where you'd benefit from more tma (such as staff releasing very high hp mobs that are actually good to farm for mages where multiple ults are required), and you won't be able to get back the lost possible gains from mp washing without fresh ap, so I don't recommend this.

    Gotcha. I'll MP Wash until like 170, then I'll start HP Washing using your advice.

    Will It mess me up later if I HP wash right now to get 5.5k HP this level, and continue to MP wash each lvl going forward?

    You mean by following the second set of steps I posted previously? No, the only down side is that you'll lose some mp of course - so if you're using % based potions your pot costs will go up a bit, and you'll have less mp for magic guard. But it won't affect the amount of mp you can gain in the future (mp washing is only dependent on base int).

    Yes i highly recommend going the Reset MP Increase SP route when you wash from MP to HP. I did that and saved 6k MP from being wasted if I hadnt reset SP

    1. How much does MP gain on level up depend on character base INT stat, and how much of it depends on INT gear? Is the latter trivial? Thanks.

    For MP gained on levelling up, the formula is indifferent to INT from your base stat and INT from equips. It takes total INT, including the INT boost from MW.

    To answer the question about how total INT affects MP gain on levelling, every 10 INT results in 1 extra MP gained per level. This 10 INT is rounded down, so if you have 10 INT vs 19 INT you would still gain 1 extra MP per level in both cases.
