So the whole idea of HP washing is to gain extra HP for better survival capabilities at higher levels. If I have a sum of 120 INT during level up, put one AP into HP, and take out 12 MP and put 1 into LUK using an AP Reset, I am making up for it, since I've already gained an extra 12 more MP than your normal Night Lord, therefore I'm not losing any MP. But from the various guides I've seen, you're not supposed to wash once per level, but rather wash using all of your 5 AP, in which case you'd be losing MP. So how important is the amount of MP we're losing?
In case you haven't seen it, look at the HP washing calculator I made here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/hp-washing-calculator.111127/ To answer your question, if you have a total 120 int during your level up, you get your natural MP gain for that level up in addition to 12 more MP from your 120 total int, yes. By putting one Level Up AP into HP then using an AP Reset to -MP +luk, you lose exactly 12 MP, which means since you got 12 MP from your total int, your MP would then have only increased by the natural MP gain from leveling up. As a Night Lord, you should whenever possible use Level Up AP to HP wash with. HP gain per Level Up AP is 20-24, for an average of 22. This means ideally you should put all 5 AP from leveling up into HP and then use your AP Resets to -MP +luk. However, for very high HP goals, Night Lords (and Shadowers) need to use AP Reset AP to MP wash with. HP gain per AP Reset AP is 16-20, for an average of 18. In this case, you'd be HP washing by putting 1 AP into HP then using AP Resets to -MP +HP until you get to your desired HP and then use one last AP Reset to -MP +luk. The amount of MP you lose is important because there's a minimum MP formula at which you can no longer reduce MP. For Night Lord, this formula is: 14*Level+148 So to reach your HP goal, you must have enough MP to keep washing HP with while staying above this minimum MP number. I highly suggest playing around with my calculator. It does (nearly) all the work for you.
Thank you for your response. How ideal is it though to be playing only with the very minimal amount of MP an Assassin could have? difficult? annoying? do you have some insight perhaps?
It's not difficult at all - your pets have accessories that automatically apply potions and, considering NLs don't use a ton of MP with any single attack (it's like 20 mp a second but not 2,000 mp in one move) so your pets will just keep refilling your MP with the potions you buy. HP is 100x more important than MP.
Is it fine to rack up fresh ap from say level 50-130 then using the 400ap on hp and reseting mp to dex/luk all at once? rather then washing every level or does that affect hp gain
Writing this because I may have screwed up HP washing my NL, it's 81 atm. I put all my AP after getting my goal int into luk. . . I got 250 base int to build Mp because I thought you can just take from the pool of excess MP and put into HP at the end. I'm hoping this is the case, otherwise I may have screwed up regardless of using your calculator. Incredibly helpful tool for figuring out the numbers, but oh boy I fear that I may have misunderstood the process entirely.
you can still do that, its just slightly less hp gained per ap reset when you do that for thieves (its only for thieves and not any other class). You might just need to find a bit of extra hp from some other sources to make up for any lost
