No ranged character can ever kill Horntail without HP washing even if they obtain HB throughout the run. You only need 5.6k HP though, which requires very few washes. If you want the bare minimum for Horntail just wear Int equips before every single level, and use AP resets to HP wash. Remember the later you start, the harder it becomes.

Not sure what level but you don't need to hp wash to survive Horntail.

You'd easily have that at 18x on most classes. Remember people on GMS didn't wash and still managed to ht on ranged classes at high levels.

In order to fight Horntail at 16x, all classes other than Warriors and Buccaneers have to HP Wash to at least 5,600. There's no other way to get to 5,600 other than spending your hard earned AP that you would have used for your main stat or take out extra MP via Int Washing and add it into HP.

Yet the question is, at what level does one have enough hp for ht without washing. Of course this is class dependant, as nls (and sairs?) have a lot more hp than bm/mm for example.

I do know that with very casual washing (20 int per level at 50+ from zak helm + dep star) it's usually possible to ht at 16x.

You need about 50 washes to HT at 155 on a BM or MM. Level ups are slightly more effective than washes for gaining HP, so I would expect you can HT without washing on a BM somewhere around your late 18X without washing. The MP needed for the minimum number of washes can be obtained just by getting a 6 int wooden wand to wear on level ups, and getting your zhelm and dep star at level 50. No specific int equips and certainly no base int required.

NLs get more HP per level up and more HP per wash than do BMs. I can't give you a number from experience, but I can say that both their level ups and their washes are about 120% as efficient as a bowman's, and they get more HP from their job advances. I would not be surprised if you can survive unwashes on a NL in your 17x. To HT at level 155, I would expect that you need ~30 washes total.

Yes, but that doesn't say the gain from levelup and job advancement, ie: what the unwashed hp at a given level is. I assume the min hp is referring to the same thing as min mp, that is hp cannot be removed with ap resets below that level.

The point of posting that was to let people estimate. You get 4k hp at level 200 with the formula as a thief. 3rd and 4th job advance won't give 1.6k hp for sure, and the hp boost from level should be correct. I believe it only varies when you add a point to hp, I forgotten actually. Someone correct this if I'm mistaken.

Silver Deputy Star gives 100 HP. Every little bit counts with AP Resets being 9-10m each -.-

If you plan to endgame...just wash your character.

You can get mediocre int equips for cheap.

The $$ for AP resets will be nothing when you get to that point.

You're mistaken. Archers gain more than 20 HP per level up, which is what that formula suggests. Following this, you would expect a completely unwashed archer to have around 3.4k before dep star, when it's actually more than 1k higher than that. I wouldn't have expected this formula to be correct for actual HP anyway - the min MP formula also never gives an accurate value. Even without int equips (including zhelm, dep star - 4 base int ONLY) you end up with enough spare MP to do a couple washes before your 4th job advancement.
