Hi all! I noticed there's a lot of confusion between these terms (and they're all very similar), so I decided to write a guide covering what's what. Table of Contents HT HTP HTPQ HT Prequest HT HT stands for Horntail, and is this big dragon: It's got a lot of HP and some attacks to watch out for. Check out a dedicated HT guide for that information though, this is just covering what things are, not how to do them. To challenge HT, you'll need to finish the HT Prequests and obtain a dragon elixir ("elixir" for short - when someone asks if you have an elixir for HT they don't mean the regular 50% HP/MP potion): You then gather with your party at Cave of Life - Entrance: Once you're all ready, use an elixir and drop down (yes, the elixir is consumed so you need to repeat the prequest if you want to run HT a lot). That'll bring you to this map once you say OK to the chat message: There's 2 NPCs here: the encrypted slate, and the schedule. If your party leader has a badge: they can talk to the slate and instantly transport your entire party to the signup room: (Note: there's an NPC on the left side of the signup room that will bring you back to the previous room with the slate/schedule. This can be useful for getting more than 6 characters through) If you don't have a badge (or want to HTPQ), you can instead talk to Horntail's Schedule and start HTPQ. To start HT, the party leader starts a sign up at Mark of the Squad, waits for everyone to sign, and then uses the mark to go in, just like how Zakum signups work. This room also contains the stump paladins need to interact with to get Holy Charge, at the far right. HTP This is a Horntail Pendant (HTP): 2-5 drop from HT, and they have 6-8 allstat (up to 13 godly). HT also drops 1 Egg: which can be turned into a scroll at a map above Peak of the Big Nest: This makes HTP 21-23 (up to 28 godly) allstat, which can be quite a bit! HTPQ HTPQ is the Horntail Party Quest. There's a couple reasons to do this: 1. It's required to get Genesis (make sure your quest is asking for life root first) 2. It's required to get badge: 3. If no one in your HT party has a badge, then running HTPQ is how you actually get to the HT signup map. Contrary to popular belief, HTPQ is NOT required for paladins to get Holy Charge. They can simply be badged past HTPQ directly to the signup map to complete it. To run HTPQ, you'll need to finish the HT Prequests and obtain a dragon elixir ("elixir" for short - when someone asks if you have an elixir for HT they don't mean the regular 50% HP/MP potion): You then gather with your party (you need at least 3 characters to run HTPQ) at Cave of Life - Entrance: (Note: some people might have mules permanently inside Cave of Life for HTPQ) Once you're all ready, use an elixir and drop down (yes, the elixir is consumed so you need to repeat the prequest if you want to run HT a lot). That'll bring you to this map once you say OK to the chat message: There's 2 NPCs here: the encrypted slate, and the schedule. Talking to the Schedule with a party of 3 or more will bring you to HTPQ. Look up a guide on how to do it, but generally you need to get to the last stage of it to get the drops for badge quest and for genesis quest. Completing the entire HTPQ will put you at the signup map for HT. Leaving midway through, or completing and talking to the NPC at the left side of the signup map will put you back in the map with the Schedule, ready to run HTPQ again (or ready to join a party running HT, so you can get your genesis and pendant in a single elixir use) HT Prequest To challenge HT, you'll need to repeat the HT prequest from Moira. To unlock the prequest from Moira, you need to accept the Moira's Whereabouts quest from Chief Tatamo, and then talk to Moira to finish it and get the Secret Medicine quest: Quest is pretty simple - kill dark cornians for a busted dagger that you fix with a steel and mithril plate in Leafre, kill green cornians for marrow, kill wyverns for tough dragon skin, and kill dark cornians for a skull shoulder pad. Then there's the manon kill, which is often the hardest part. Luckily, just being in the map when the manon dies is enough, so you can get a lot of quest completions off just finding a single manon. This gives you 2 dragon elixirs: which can be used to enter the Cave of Life for HT/HTPQ The quest is on a 4 hour cooldown, starting as soon as you turn it in. You can stack up as many dragon elixirs in your inventory as you want. It's best to be prepared and make sure you have them ahead of time, in case you can't find a manon when you're trying to HT
