I've just noticed that the Holiday Store Permit has 24 slots whilst the bot stores have only 16 slots. In my opinion bot stores should also have 24 slots. Here are the pros and cons I could think of for such an increase in capacity: pros: 1. Could lead to a decrease in the overall number of stores opened, which could lead to an increase in space for other players to open up their own stores in the more popular spaces. 2. Improves QoL since it decreases the need to 'juggle' between sold stuff and unsold stuff that stayed in inventory. 3. Could lead to a decrease in the overall time it takes players to sell their stuff. 4. Could lead to an increase of items being up for sale thus contributing to a more healthy and dynamic market. cons: 1. Could lead to an overall decrease of NX spent on bot stores (is this a con?) (There are probably more cons, feedback would be appreciated) I'll end with an open question for discussion: Many players, including myself, end up hording a ridiculous amount of stuff that we're too lazy to sell (maybe the 16 slots capacity is a contributor to that laziness). Having stores with a big amount of slots could really help speeding up the process of selling stuff, and let's be real here since this is after all a private server with an increase drop rate we just end up with too much stuff that would take just too much time and energy to sell. Increasing the store capacity in such way could be a big QoL improver for a lot of players and could have a huge positive impact on the market in general. So why not increase the stores capacity even more to let's say 36 or even 48? Is the current limit of 24 really necessary? Also added a poll for the original suggestion.
And artificially inflate player counts even more? Sounds about right. On a serious note, I see no harm as to why the capacity shouldn't be the same as hired merchant. Probably another stupid decision by n*xon. The price of player permit should be cheaper still since it required the player to stay online.
Most probably the capacity choices were money-driven, but since nɘxon is not around anymore, as you said, there's no reason to why the capacity shouldn't be increased.
With how much NX it costs to purchase a bot store (12k/14 days) vs a standup shop (2k or 3.6k/90 days), I think it's reasonable to increase the number of slots that the bot shop can hold to 24 to match the seasonal 3.6k shop. The bot store is already 38 times more expensive than its 2k/16 slot counterpart and 32 times more expensive than the seasonal shop if you include the difference in slot capacity. Knowing this, it makes a lot more sense to buy the personal shops but leaving the client (and your computer) running all day and consuming real life resources does not sound fun. Plus, in terms of being an NX sink, people who buy shops will buy shops anyways and people who don't won't buy them. I can't see how increasing the slots will drastically change how many shops are bought so it would just be nice for players to be able to put more items on market to sell or showcase.
