I'm not talking about two people trying to open a shop at the same time, like right after a server reboot. What I'm talking about is: there are 2 shops already open, they've been open for hours. There is some space between them, but not nearly enough for another shop. If you were to go into that space and try to open a shop, the game will tell you "You can't open a shop here." There is a glitch however (which I just found out about, newbie me) where if you jump up and down and keep spam clicking, you CAN open a new shop in that tiny space. Someone did that right next to my shop, and when my shop expired I was unable to reopen my shop (because now there was no space) and I lost my spot. I told my guild members about this, and the response I got was "Oh [the Glitcher] is a cool guy, he's a pro and a legend, just forget about it." Apparently jumping up and down and opening a shop is common knowledge, a lot of people do it, and I was the only person who didn't know about it. So my question is, is it allowed? Are the GMs totally okay with this?
I posted this before and basically got laughed at by the people who did it, so... Sila said it's frowned upon but not illegal.
Time to laugh back and call them out. This shouldn't be allowed, but it'll be hard to tell who got there first if a GM were to close a shop.
If I saw that and it was overlapping someone else's shop making it inaccessible, I would close the offending shop.
Technically they aren't overlapping but it keeps those unaware of the glitch from resetting their shop in the same spot. I had quite a few spots stolen before I figured out how to do it. I've had my shop sandwiched by two people who jumped it and came back to see them both readjusted to fill the gap. Very unsavory behavior. Is this not fixable?
Well, I don't know how it's possible as when you try to open a shop while jumping, you get a message telling you that can't be done.
Possibly have a message box kind of thing pop up instead of it just saying it in chat, so that you can't just continuously spam your shop to open it. Something like the message you get when you try to open a store at a spot you shouldn't be able to open it at. Spoiler: Like this It could be like that, this makes it so that you can't do anything until you press "OK".
I've closed off merchants that aren't supposed to be in those spots you've described before. It's blatant bug abuse. You can only do so much before someone else comes along to do the same as the person before them.
Yeah you get a message saying "You can't open a shop while jumping". Just ignore it and keep jumping up and down and spam clicking. Eventually it will open a shop (usually about 20 - 40 seconds of spamming this will activate the glitch).
If you know it is a glitch why would you need to ask if it's allowed or not? Abusing glitches is against the rules so just don't do it.
Initially I was going to report the person that I noticed using this glitch (in this thread), but then I was told by numerous people that this is allowed and that GMs were aware of it. So I edited my abuse report to say "wrong section, please delete" and moved the discussion to here to verify whether this was really allowed or not. I am a relative newbie and I didn't want to start any bad blood with high level famous players (whom I was going to name) if in fact he had done nothing wrong. Please see the #2 post in this thread by Goofy; apparently this is not the first time someone reported this issue, and a GM has already commented on this in the past.
I've seen the #2 post in this thread. Goofy did not link to any post of a GM stating that it is allowed. If you ask a question like this you should always take the answer given by the staff members rather than other players. It is a glitch, and it is not allowed, so feel free to report anyone that you believe is abusing this glitch and if we can confirm that the glitch was used, we will take the required action.
Ugh. So user Epical abused this glitch and when confronted told me it was allowed and GMs did it. How rude. Thanks for pursuing it to get confirmation House.
The problem is there is no way to tell if someone jump glitched a spot, or rather just both people were there and opening at the same time. Both produce the same end result (shops overlapped but both still accessible). So unless the person is literally caught in the act there is no legit way to prove if they jump glitched it or not.
If they are overlapping, the first store opened is the store that appears when you click on the section of the stores that are overlapping.
