I made a new bishop character only level 22 lol but I couldn’t help but notice how dead the low level areas were. Is maple royals sorta dead in terms of new players? I took a hiatus for a year or so and it seems much emptier now.
Welcome back! The game as a whole is pretty active, but its hard to compare the game to a year where there was a player boom due to covid 19.
Well it is pretty dead if you are solo player or new player, because old/ end game people are tending to play among their own social circle nowadays. It is nearly impossible or taking forever to recruit a wild party in late game.
Unfortunately it is. I tried to recruit opq the traditional way, over 6 hours and I only have 1 other member.
The game inself going to be hard for new players but if you try and focus on get lvl 120 the rest will be easy
Sell ur soul for leech to 135 then boss til 200 then retire in hell. Just kidding, Level 22 = KPQ or Wild Boars if u can hit them, should be very fast! when u're 23-24 u can try to 1 hit stringe (bats) in the subway, will be fast since u're a mage with max magic claws, then 26-30 go for ligators in the sewers while checking once awhile for people recruiting KPQ.
Asking this question on forums is hilarious, half the people here are trolls or hate the game. Pre covid Royals was at 700-800 concurrent, Midcovid was at like 2500+, but now it's dying down back to normal numbers. But a lot of players have stayed from the hype times. Since the current meta is leeching/washing, not many low-level players just playing normally. But they're out there! go to Genins. wild boars/bubblings/gators/etc is trash. Genins is optimal till like lvl 35. Find a guild ASAP! especially one that will help you and also have new players. Guilds will level up alts often and know how to do it optimally. I got to lvl 0-48 in 4 hours by party grinding, not trading in Orbis ETC or leeching. Leveling in a party is 10% per party member in the party, so party grinding in open world is faster than PQs. PQs are what people clutch to though, still see people LPQ or CPQ, but they mostly don't know about the party buffs. If you need a Guild, head over to the Guilds recruiting section and shop around. That will be your first step to finding people to play with!
For me personally, the low-level areas are dead cause it's really easy to train at the low level range (10 to 70) If you would like to find a party to train, I would recommend checking out Ant Tunnel or Wild Boar area You may also check out the guide I wrote about grinding to level 30 (solo) https://royals.ms/forum/threads/guide-for-newbie-magician-to-level-30.198200/
The low level areas are dead because even if you solo grind you should be able to get to 30 pretty fast. This is the same for all new players, meaning that low-level areas seem dead-er. A year ago was when COVID started which is probably when the server started to see a boom in population and more importantly, a lot of new players grinding the same way.
I wouldn't say the server is dead at all. Although you won't see alot of ''new players'' in your level range, there's many players who started few months ago in the level 12x range. If you like the old school maplestory then I strongly suggest you to give Royals a chance until you get past 4th job. Also I remember when I was a new player I used to smega looking for friends so my buddy list has always 20+ people online. Also try join a guild without level restrictions (there's PLENTY!). New friends (veterans or not) and a friendly guild will definitely help you through all kind of game content and make it more enjoyable. leech(guilty of not having parties) party with mules trolls and finally harassment new users suffer it to make their party but comes the trolls spawning bosses and mobs die in one hit (mostly happens in kerning city and henesis)
Tbh this is private server, everyday 1000ppl char online on the counter but actually only around 300 players and nost of them are high lvl, low lvl players are struggling tho. Even in covid time still hard to find lpq pt, opq is even harder, i was waiting like half a day just to have a pt
