is the gender requirements on certain promise rings actually a thing?

So a friend and i, decided we would do a maple marriage in the near future just for fun, we both play with female characters and i thought i'd be nice to buy them a promise ring from the cash shop, more specifically had i been looking at the Angel Bunny Promise Ring, and while it's not a massive issue, i was still surprised and fairly disappointed to see that it requires: 1 male and 1 female character to take effect.
as so i am curious whether it's actually true. and if so, is there anyway you would consider removing the gender requirements for the promise rings that does have these requirements in the future?
