Hiya, I just started on the server and have one level 16 thief (yay) that I want to have become a NL. But I learned about HP washing... Makes things a bit more complicated haha. I don't think it's too late to start if I mix int equ w/ int ap points... But won't that hurt me in leveling/keeping up with dmg as well as be costly? Basically, I'm getting the feeling that this is a second time around sort of thing. Or at least have another character to feed this one some money... Is it really all that practical to do with your first character? Also, I still want to have fun, will this take the fun out of playing until I've grinded up to ~120 or w/e? If it is practical, what's a good way to get ahold of early int items? I looked at the selling thread, but I can't afford 200m for just earings haha. Thanks
I would say starting with a Bishop would be the best course of action for new players. You can easily level them with little to no funding and you can make money off leeching once you're level 120+ . From there on you can gather int gear with your money which you can use on your Bishop and use for HP washing your thief. Oh, and you should keep your Bishop on a different account since you can leech your thief with it if you wish.
You don't have to HP wash, any reason why you want to wash at all? It's not practical to start HP washing with your first character since it's very expensive and time consuming.
Oh, from the guides I saw, it sounded almost necessary. It's necessary for the bosses late game no? Is there enough to do with a NL that I wouldn't be remiss about not being able to participate in those at first?
HP washing is greatly exaggerated in most cases. You will benefit from more HP and it's better to have more than less. The only boss you would need a bit of HP washing for is Horntail, and maybe if you want to do some area boss at an earlier level. What I would suggest is gather whatever int gear you can, when you can, and use it every time before you level up. No need to worry about HP washing more than that, if you want to make an NL there is nothing wrong with it being your first character.
