Kenny's apology

I am writing to you today with a heavy heart and deep regret. As many of you may already know, I abused the GM power for personal gain. I owe you all a sincere apology. My actions were a serious lapse in judgment, and I know that my behavior was a breach of trust. There is no excuse for my actions, and I deeply regret the impact they have had. I am truly sorry for any frustration and disappointment my actions may have caused. I want to take full responsibility for my actions and address my mistakes openly.


There were times when I had a massive inventory of perfect items and knew exactly how to make them legitimate without being detected, especially before the new logs were introduced. There were times when people offered me more money for an unban, and times when hackers offered money for info on ban evasion/hacking detection/rwt detection. Yet, despite all this, the thought of using these opportunities for personal gain never once crossed my mind. I could never have imagined myself doing something like that. What changed me? Maybe I am just an asshole in nature without realizing it. One key turning point is seeing this after ex-staff Pure’s leakage. I always thought all donation money goes toward the server. This’s what I’ve been told the whole time, and I believed it like a Bible verse. I overestimated the server cost, and I thought the server was costing more money than the donation. And I always thought everyone on staff was doing the job without getting paid. This changes everything. I question myself every day why I am spending this much time to pay someone else’s rent. Why can’t the money go toward a 3rd party developer? I could have just walked away but my greed clouded my judgment, and I am ashamed of it. Looking back on it now, I am shocked and disappointed by my actions too.



On top of that, the amount of hacker meso generation simply shocked me. Every time I log in, I have to spend hours just catching hackers. Not ordinary hackers but hackers who have a script to create an account, to hack, and to liquidate. And it's only a few GMs that are shouldering the majority of the workload. But even that, it’s only a few people vs automative bots. Despite my best efforts to voice concerns and offer solutions, I have seen little progress. Many promises have been made but not fulfilled. I and a few other staff members wanted to help in the insensitive areas but were all eventually ignored or forgotten. Nothing… nothing is getting done. The lack of new interns to share the responsibilities has further exacerbated the situation. I understand the potential of GM abuse (how ironic that I am writing this), but what was forgotten is the workload placed on the few individuals. It was always Bacon, Stephen, Tim, and me doing all the GM duties.

Another serious issue is rwt (ha fucking Kenny saying rwt is a fucking serious issue now, funny). Tim is essentially the only one handling rwt cases. I had some other access for years, and I was able to find and ban rwt-er and handle their appeals on my own. I checked everything. Literally e v e r y t h i n g. I could do it all night long and I enjoyed doing it. I felt pride catching them. I know you won’t believe this now, but I really really really wanted to help. I am always one step behind rwt-er due to limited access. They were always so close yet so far. I know I can catch them, but I just can’t, and that feeling is indescribable. I wanted more tools or more database access to get a step ahead of them, but I was rejected every time. Maybe they made the right calls to not accept me. Maybe they already know what a terrible person I will become. This game needs another admin desperately and I wanted to fill the gap. But I fucked it up. There will be no admin ever.

Even tho I don’t see a future in royals anymore, my hope is still to see royals continue to thrive and improve. I wish I was wrong, and I hope this server runs forever. There are also a lot of things that I cannot and will not talk about. Even though I am a terrible person as it is now, I still hold some leftover integrity to protect insider knowledge. I will not leak. And every ban I issued was appropriately given. I did not issue a malicious ban or unban anyone another staff member would unban.

I want to extend my heartfelt apologies to the community members who have been affected by my actions. I don’t ask your forgiveness. I don’t forgive myself for ruining the game I once loved and cherished. I am grateful for the support and camaraderie I have experienced here, and I wish you all the best moving forward. Thank you for the memories and the opportunities. I hope that in time, royals can find a path forward that brings positive change. This will be my last message. Sorry.

People make mistakes, even if it was a momentary lapse of judgement.

Like all things actions have consequences, and there's nothing we can do to take our actions back.

I refuse to cast any stones at you, like many would. Stones are best reserved for those who sin and go unpunished.

 

What you did was really bad, there's really no way around it.
You were fully aware and this does not excuse it, but there's also a real problem with how staff members are treated and how things are done within staff, which is a thing i hear repeatedly from retired staff members.
It's inevitable to just lose your mind and quit if you really care about making a change.

I do appreciate a lot of the things you did as you were one of the only (if not the only) staff member who always seemed to be "on the player's side".
Without you on staff I think that's one less voice in favor of the players when it comes to changes (not that it would matter anyway, you will never have a majority).

As a player I must agree, I don't see a bright future for royals in terms of positive changes either.
You need to either just not care at all and play whatever is thrown at you, or quit.
Sorry if it's harsh, but a lot of us just started on the wrong server and are now too invested in our gear/friends to just leave, which I feel like is a big reason this server retains it's numbers.
It's for sure not because of great staff work.
It is what it is.
