Hey guys.. I'd just like to start of by saying, I know the GM's are busy often and have lives away from MR but I just thought this might need addressing Well.. I remember when I first joined the server I would see that lovely blue text and get this feeling of joy. Just me and a couple of friends doing ~joinevent getting into a skype call and trying to win a nice chair. I used to love doing events and having fun and how nice it felt to win and have your name show up in that same blue text. But lately I haven't seen any events lately, and its kinda depressing and MR is getting a bit boring. I know there are a lot of bugs that need fixing and with Zak and HT and all, But hey. GM's need a break just as much as we do sometimes and no better way to relax then to host an event and joke around. I dont know if you fellow MR's feel the same way but I know that this has been kinda bugging me for a bit. Nothing against the GM's like I said at the top. But having a few more events will make my time much more enjoyable and with all the new players joining I know they would like to experience their first event win and get a cool chair. Thats all I gotta say hopefully you guys agree!
i agree. when i first joined this server there were usually 2 events per day(hosted by marty). sometimes 3. now i'll be lucky to catch one once a week. also something other than jq would be nice, give others a chance to win something. its always the same names winning jq event. also this is kinda off subject. are the portals in ola ola randomized every time its hosted? there was one the other night that ended in under 3 mins. seemed like they knew where they were going.
Agreed that we do need more events, particularly in the morning, server time. However, as I've already got a full workload and zero social skills for event hosting, it would be good to have someone else on at that time who loves hosting events.
Events are part of what eliminates the boredom of the daily grind. For people who don't interact much in game, events are the only real change of pace. Why exactly did the consistency of events die down? With Dan and Chelsea back, there's not really a shortage of GMs, is there?
I took a short month or so break from Royals and just came back. The frequency of events definitely has died down since I've last played and I have to agree with Raddy. It really helps take your mind off of the grind and have something fun to look forward to.
You have a valid point, yes; there should be more events. But do you really think they (Staff) aren't aware of that? This thread seems a tad superfluous to me. On another note: I think they got more pressing issues on their mind right now, the Zakum problems or Temple of Time, to name but a few. I'd be willing to sacrifice some events for a more speedy solution to all this. And to answer vvot's question: No, they're not, but there's several sets of Ola Ola maps, and they look identical (only the portals differ). Some people might know the portal sequence by heart, and can tell which set it is from the first map's correct portal. Edit: You're saying that GMs, too, need to take a break and host an event to relax... Yes, events are easier than other GM duties, but not always fun to host, especially when people don't listen, nor can they, to use your words, joke around, since GMs have to remain professional at all times.
I also think that zak should be fixed even if it causes less events going on , believe me , most of the people would like to see that zak/Ht are fixed other than more events on the serv. After all the events are the bonus of playing on this server , but there is always priority to a basic gameplay service.
You're absolutely right. Anything that affects the gameplay in a major way should be prioritized. My question is: is every active GM playing a part in fixing zakum? Surely there are some people on the staff who aren't big contributors to zakum/ToT etc. who could be hosting events and focusing on other things while the majority of the staff works on real gameplay.
Raddy, please, pretty please do something about that sig - it's giving a couple of members of staff funny turns looking at it! >_<
Yes you got a point , I have tought about something but I don't know if it can be done , Lets say that all of the GMs r working on zak/ht issue , can't u add another gm that his major role will be hosting daily events , it can be temporary until the stated above issues will be fixed? Once again , only an idea that came up on my mind .
We need to find somebody that is not only well suited to the job and would fit in well with the staff but is also in the right time zone.
This is why I started my community Event, I realized that the staff were probably too busy fixing bugs that many people complained over, and I decided to help out by giving away some of the things I have, in order for people to take a break from grinding. Maybe it is not people on this thread, but people complain about events and not being enough, but when I host them, not many people come. My question to you all is, What can I do in order to capture more of your attention?, and get more people to participate. Let me know, and I will be more the willing to aid with the "lack of events" Thank you,
He does afaik. And Manuel, you still got that timezone problem. Ness, not all GMs can help fix zak actively due to their lack of developing/coding/WZediting skills, so...
That is just a simple matter of when to host my events. Even now I don't have a schedule for them, I do it when I myself feel like it's needed. If I knew the times in which it's needed it is possible for me to arrange that.
